Does anyone have any info on the youth season? Have they changed it for this year? If not when?

I might add that the one person opposing the youth buck (and I'm not even sure he is opposing it so much as he is concerned about the rulemaking process) is the Chairman of the Advisory Council. To comment on the addition of antlered deer to the youth season go here: www.in.gov/nrc/2386.htmJack

In that case go to the July meeting of the Advisory Council...besides there will be an entire year to comment once the final proposed rule is approved.

Let's give the kids a buck, as long as they can tell on the hoof that it is a 5 year old buck, with a minimum of eight points and an 18 inch spread.
Gimme a break. Why are we even talking about this? Kids should be able to shoot any deer, period.

I wondered how one vote could waylay this. IMO - The either sex for the youth will happen only not this year..

Wasn't they looking at changing the hunting age of youths for deer season to 18?
I have had so much going on with my health and moving I have not been able to follow any of these issues.

Wasn't they looking at changing the hunting age of youths for deer season to 18? DNR sent a bill to the legislature to redefine anything in their rules for youth to mean anyone under the age of 18. The governor has signed it and it should become law as of July 1, 2009. Jack

It is on the agenda for the Natural Resources Advisory Council meeting on July 14th for the all deer topics session. Should be a good one. IF it passes the Council then it goes to the full NRC for preliminary adoption. After public comment period it gets final approval. This process likely will not allow it to be in place this year.
-----------------------------------------------
The Advisory Council will next meet on July 14, 2009, at 6:00 p.m., EDT ( 5:00 p.m., CDT) at The Garrison, Fort Harrison State Park, 6002 North Post Road, Indianapolis.
