Maybe Second Chance should consider making a class III vest in orange???

Remember to "orange" any ground blinds. A vest around a tree is easy and motionless and will allow others to see where a hunter is. Also, to be legal, you have to wear your orange while in the blind.

I really don't think we have to worry about one of our members shooting someone because most all of us are dedicated hunters and know the safety rules, its the people who don't come here that we have to worry about. h.h.

Always look PAST the deer before you shoot. Make sure the slug won't hit something unintended when it passes through the deer. Heard of a guy hunting public land one time and he shot at a deer, but he didn't see the guy leaning up against a tree ready to shoot the deer himself. When the slug went through the deer it struck the guy on the ground. Luckly it didn't kill him.

Keep the round end of the barrel away from your face .... If the light comes on, it's too late.

Remember to attach your harness to the tree before climbing. Yesterday I got to my desired height quicker than normal and discovered I forgot to attach my safety harness before I started climbing.

Don't take a shot you know you can't make or shouldn't make!!!I'm sure most of us as heard someone shoot a box or two of slugs at a deer, kinda scary having all that lead flying around...

I try not to use lights going in or out. But during gun I use them both in and out. Even though it is private property.

I'm using lights this year......they're attached to the front of a Polaris Ranger. I didn't use to look forward to crossing 500 yards of fields.

I've always tried to minimize or not use lights and use a red cap etc.; however I have wondered how much difference using a small light really makes getting to your stand?

When I've hunted public ground, I carried one of those D-cell strobe lights when walking out at dark... intermittent flash is visible a long ways off, and if you get into trouble, helps mark your position if others are searching for you...
