i have a deer /fawn running around in the woods i hunt and i have never saw one this small ,this late in the year.it dont have spots but my lab weighs 80 lbs.and would make 2 of this deer. its not afraid of anything ,saw it last eve.and blew the grunt tube when it was right beside me,didnt scare it at all.it has a normal size deer that looks to be its sibling running with it and i have seen the mother with them before the rut came in.i let off a buck bomb out in front of my stand and when this little one came in it wallowed in the weeds where i let it off at like a dog would do.craziest thing i ever saw.you think one this small will have a chance of making it through the winter?i had the normal size one 15 yards broadside the other eve. with no clue i was around and i let it walk so it can take care of the little one, lord,im getting soft in my older age.

I killed one last year that field dressed 30 lbs at Potato Creek State Park. She still had a row of spots down the top of her back.

I've seen some very small young of the year. I also was watching one of the deer hunting shows on TV some months ago (can't remember which one) where they filmed what they claimed was a dwarf deer. They said it had been sighted on several occasions and was perfectly proportioned in miniature. First time I'd heard of that.

I saw that, maybe same show, filmed in South Texas, was a full grown Buck with nice rack. But in minature.

I saw some fawn tracks last week that were barely bigger around than a quarter.

I saw some fawn tracks last week that were barely bigger around than a quarter. Sure they weren't little piggy tracks? It's amazing how much they look alike.

I won't swear that they weren't but there aren't any hog farms within several miles and I have yet to see or hear of any wild hogs this far from the river yet.

Hog tracks are more rounded in the front where deer tracks are more pointed and they do look a lot a like especially if you are not use to seeing them. h.h.
