My Dad and I hunted Crane Sun morning, I shot a button buck and Dad shot a yearling Doe at around 9:15am. Just wondered if any of you who hunted Sun was succesful and if any big bucks were taken? I checked out at 10:00am and there was only 5 deer checked in before me.

I rattled in a small six point early. By the time I saw him he saw me at the same time. My son saw a big buck but no shot offered as it darted back and forth thru the cover.
I can't believe all the leaves that are still on. Where I was all I could see was 40 yards. I stayed until the end. When I checked out 6 trucks were there with deer and they all were bucks.

Yea I shot my deer at 50 yards and that was pushing it with all the leaves, I wanted to hold out for a buck but I have had to eat my tag at Crane last 2 times. Were the bucks being checked in big?

i seen one lousy 6 point basket racket let him walk. No sense in shooting a small buck let it get bigger. My dad seen nothing my bro seen 2 does other buddy seen nothing and the other guy shot a 4 pointer for some reason. pretty crapy weather with the wind blowing . left at 130 there was 20 deer checked in no big bucks.

I checked in about 2:30 or so and asked if they had any big ones come through the long haired guy said they had one come through w/a 24 in spread I never saw it. I saw a doe at daylight and a small 6 about 9:00.

the other guy shot a 4 pointer for some reason. I'd of shot my six point had I the chance. That's the reason they have these hunts. Population Control

and the other guy shot a 4 pointer for some reason.. Maybe it was for the meat, or the total hunting experience, I am not trying to sound like a smart aleck but thats what the hunt is for managing the deer herd. I dont want to start an argument but that kind of thinking is going to be the downfall of hunting, just my opinion.

A buddy of mine hunted there yesterday. He passed an 8-pointer up at 9:00 AM and shot a 3 1/2 year old 10-pointer that dressed close to 170# at 12:00 noon. His partner shot a 4-pointer earlier in the morning, I believe.

Yea, I thought Crane was a REDUCTION hunt.....that means the hunter should attempt to harvest any deer they see.....IMO

i have three more weekends to hunt up there. Thats why i wouldnt shoot a small buck and so does the guy that shot that 4 pointer. If i was a state hunter like you guys that are there one time i would have shot anything. Sorry for the confusion.

Hunted area 27. Took a 6 pointer at 25 yeards. He walked in on me around 11:15. hecked out at 2:15. I heard about the one with the huge spread (24") and saw a pic one of the guys working there had taken with his cell. Very nice.
Deer checked in ahead of me was 9 pt., dressed at 178 lbs.
I'll be back up there on Dec. 9th....hopefully with little, if any wind.
