I'm thinking about investing in some wool clothing to use while sitting on the stand for long hours in the cold. What do you guys/gals suggest. I'm looking for something to start wearing when its starts getting below 35 or so. Thanks for the help

I wear wool pants alot during late ML and archery. I have some Colombia stuff, and have had it for years. The only thing I don't like is cleaning on true wool is dry clean only. I just got them back this weekend from the cleaners and let them hang outside all weekend.
I don't think you will go wrong.

What ever did great grandad do to clean his wool before dry cleaners?
COLD water, limited agitation, little (scent free) soap, COLD rinse, lightly hand stretch, line dry.
No problem.

LOL Thanks for the lesson, I wasn't around when grand dad was for him to teach me such things ! I should have expanded on my statement....it's not as easy as throwing a load in the washer and walking away.

I was wearing my Swiss Army wool pants when I gutted out my deer last week. Knees nicely bloodsoaked, then dried over the next 6 hours of continued hunting & driving.
Threw them and my blood spattered shirt into a laundry sink full of cold water and let it sit overnight.
No blood AT ALL in the morning.
Quick wash in the machine on Cold/Cold, Delicate, Extra Large Load setting (even though there was only 4 items in the machine) and all was good for the next day out.

Got a pair of Columbia wool pants, wear them all the time. Best hunting wear I have invested in. Warm, durable, more of briar magnet then you would believe. Still love em. They are about 6 yrs old and still hanging in there

I've got the columbia camo wool pants and a pendelton camo wool parka w/ hood. I really like the stuff. Have used it for years. I don't wash it. Just hang it in a tree ouside to air out. I though hunting clothes were supposed to be dirty. Note .... It's gotta be real cold before you'll want to break that stuff out, otherwise you'll overheat. A few briars and cockle-burrs give you the 3D camo effect.

I got a columbia wool jacket and bib overalls. They were pretty reasonable. I think 75.00 each piece.

Consider the new washable wool clothes. I think I saw some in Cabelas.
