Just wanted to take a minute and share our Big Oaks experience with everyone! Huntingbuddy (my wife) and I got checked in and headed to the woods right before daylight. As some of you know we were in area #3. From daylight till 1200 I only counted 7 shots fired and one of those came from huntingbuddy, as you can see below she double lunged this young doe at 30 yards. After getting her field dressed and checked in, I decided to do a little push for her thru a bedding area. 5 minutes into the push a big bodied, tall 6 pointer came trotting by 40 yards right by her but it was too thick to get a shot (she will not take a poor shot). We changed areas and hunted the rest of the evening without seeing anything. I would recommend for everyone to try out Big Oaks atleast once, but stay to the South. Although the truck was not full of deer my wife and I had a great time and would do it again (only in the southern areas). The two bucks that you see below were two of 6 nice bucks that were checked in while we were there. The gentleman, checking in deer made the comment "whats going on, everyone is getting a deer". I have to applaud the staff at Big Oaks they do a wonderful job. In our opinion, the check in could have went a little smoother but overall organized. And UNLIKE THE STATE PARKS REDUCTIONS, Big Oaks gives each hunter plenty of acres to hunt, I never saw any hunter orange.
Oh, one more thing, the deer knew this front was blowing in, during our 20 minute drive out we saw 18 does along the edge of different hunting areas eatting the grass and watched a shooter buck chase a doe for 10 minutes in a cut corn field.
