Get a call while workin this mornin from my landowner... apparently the guys huntin the neighboring property had shot a buck last night... and returned to trackin this mornin and was crossin the beanfield. anyways...... i got a hold of them and told them they needed to wait on me to get off of work (half hour) until they went on to our ground and into our swamp. Thats the jist of it... BUT.. i dont exactly get along with one of the guys and he would do about anyting i think to ruin what we have goin in there... and i got the impression they just wanted to go trouncin around all our thickets to look for this buck he had already told me he shot hi... and did not have any blood for the previous 300 yards. When i get there... it is the guy who shot it... his son.... his sons friend!! and the other guy and his son. Thats 5!! guys... 3 loud kids.... that are wanting to go "see if hes in there". I was very helpful.. even hands and knees TRYIN to find blood for about 3 hours. But i was not/did not go through all of our hunting ground that we know is holding quite a few deer and was not all keen up about runnin our deer BACK TO THIS GUYS PROPERTY just in hopes that he ran this way. I am one that will not watch any deer suffer.. will ruin a whole mornin duck hunt to retrieve the one hen that glided offf.... and dont even use leg hold traps (nothin wrong with them) just because i know i wouldnt wanna be in one. If i would have had even any blood worth goin on( we found NONE once i got there)... i woulda led atleast the two adults in and hopefully found the deer.. high fived them... the whole bit.... but somethin was just awful fishy about his whole ordeal. Yes i have shot my buck already but the landowners sons and my brother have not.. and its crunch time up here in noble co... so i wasnt wanting to disturb them if i did not have to. The morning did seem to end well ... and i was even thanked... but you could tell they were not real excited to see me join in (keep eye on things) during there "track".

Don`t blame you a bit, specially since you and 1 of the others had a previous run in. They could have been on the up and up but now a days with spiteful people out there ya never know,,if the tables were turned you most likely wouldn`t have been allowed to go look for your deer.

ok... i need to bring this back down to a neutral line... we did look all over our ground for blood.. but just in the fields . i was more than willing to help them ya know. I just wasnt gonna go in the thick stuff just "because" know what i mean. And maybe even they were not up to anyting.. but either way... i wouldn't expect anyone to let me go trouncin in there "honey hole" without blood what so ever. I knew with the deer bein hit high.. that he would probably live. I had loin shot visioned myself.
The guy who actually shot the deer has been one of my fathers friends for years.. and i get along well with him. That is probably y i was so helpful... but its like i said.. i wouldnt expect even solohunter who is one of my good friends to even let me do that on his ground with the very low possiblity of recovering the deer. I just dont want this post to seem like i have a huge hard on for these guys... its not it at all.... but yes there has been a few instances with is "buddy" (landowner of where deer was shot) in the past.. but that will not come between someone recovering a deer that is rightfully theirs.

This is the only thing in your post that doesn't make much sense to me. If you have adjoining properties and think that the deer you see on your place never travel through his property your wrong. I once read that a mature buck will cover up to one square mile of ground, plus I could never understand how people can say "our deer" do people actually think that the deer they see on there land are there deer. It reminds me of something that happened about 5 years ago i was fishing of the bank of my friends land and the guy who owns the land on the opposite side of the creek started yelling at me from his side that I was stealing his fish out of his creek.

typical. my deer. my woods. my landowner? (that's a new one) mine..mine...mine.... sounds like a day care facility. if i ever need a reminder of why hunting is doomed all i have to do is tune into a message board. truly a sad commentary on the state of hunting today.

DMD are you by chance a landowner? Knowing the individuals involved, and the landowner also(he depends on Noble to run the roost), I understand why Noble did what he did...also(up here in Wayne Twp) Noble is known as one of the most considerate, conscientious hunters that has property to hunt, including mine. I have seen ALOT of idiots running around, he is definitely not one of them. When I was having trouble with some of the waterfowlers, I eliminated that party and told Noble he was in charge of the waterfowl hunting, come and go as he pleases and bring who he wants, why? Because he is trustworthy and has not taken advantage. respectfully, Solohunter

No blood for 300 yds in open fields... real bad hit in my opinion. I most likely would have done the same thing. Ive dealt with the same thing but I caught the guys on my property. When I confronted them only two were in the group. As i was talking with them and telling them how to go about getting permission to come on the land to retrieve a deer i see two more guys a couple hundred yards away, now that four guys in the group. One of them got kind of smart with me so I told them if I ever caught them on the property without permission Id have them arrested. By the way there are Classified Wildlife signs every 100 yds with No Trespassing signs too. h.h.

smokepole.. i understand what you mean. I guesss it didnt come out how i was expecting and agree with what you are saying. Oh i know that we hunt the same deer.. heck... few of my stands are mainly set due to the deer that cross the road all the time. I just meant that i didnt really (unless needed) to run the deer in our swamp out. Yes they would come back i know .... but worries me this close to next weekend and the landowners sons, and my brother bein very excited about goin with high hopes. Wasnt supposed to sound like the "my deer... his deer" scenerio... i understand all that and agree with what you say. As far as you dmd.... your opinion is very much appreciated... for that was my question to you. But i see we are on differnet levels. Guess maybe some things didnt' "come out" right since i was tryin to explain the jist of my situation by typing.

I'm good with Noble saying "his deer". I'm knew what he was getting at. It's all good. I don't think a person could claim that they own a deer unless they buy one or catch one alive with their bare hands and tame it down enough to take home. I guess if you kill one and put your tag on it, it could be your deer as well.
