As far as I can tell the chase faze of the rut seems to be kicking into high gear in Henry County. I had a chance at a nice buck on the tail of of Doe yesterday. I got blood but not a good enough hit for a kill. He jumped the arrow. Hopefully he will live another day. I am going into the same area tomorrow and I'm in high hopes of getting my buck before Gun starts next weekend.

I'm not seeing any chasing activity now, I did last week. I've been on vacation this week (and next) and about all I'm seeing is the occasional doe, yearling bucks and fawns wandering around by themselves. I'm guessing there are a number of does in heat right now.

Have not seen a deer while on stand last two days. Put some miles on my boots after hunting this morning and didn't even bump a deer. Saw some fresh sign, that's it. Maybe tomorrow!

I put in a lot of hours in the old ladder stands on my property in Ripley County from Nov 1st to Nov 7th, and election day was by far the best! I saw a total of 13 deer in about six hours including four bucks. I saw a small eight that I could have nailed right under me, a one horned three, a 140 class ten that gave me an iffy shot at 44 yards that I decided to pass on, and a solid eight chasing a doe. I nailed a doe right behind me in the morning about 1030 and watched her go down just 50 yards from my stand. Like a dummy, I went to dress her without my bow, because what are the chances of seeing a deer while you're gutting one!?! Yep, the nice eight chased a doe to within 20 yards of me, and then he stopped at about 10 yards on the other side of me to see what she was looking at! Neither one had a clue that I was there, and he took off chasing her again on down the ridge right past my bow still hanging in the tree. Dope!!!!!!! Wednesday was slow, as I only saw three does, and no bucks chasing them.
