Say you have been working your butt off trying to make something you have dreamed of since you were a kid happen and now you are right on the edge of doing it. What is IT? Making hunting and the outdoors your career, taking your game calls and having the possibility to sell them in a nationwide sporting goods chain, working on a hunting video that will be sold as well and having 4 big time companies looking at you with a possibility for sponsorship in the coming year. But you only have 3 pro staff members, great guys but they aren`t taking the whole thing seriously and making a commitment that could in the long run make a better life for themselves and their families, you know yourself you won`t be the next Knight and Hale or Will Primos or Waddell or Bill Jordan. But you can see the light at the end of the tunnel yet feel like it is getting further and further out of reach, do you just say screw it and scrap the whole deal? Try to find new guys or more guys to work with that want to make it happen? Do you just make yourself say its all a pipe dream and walk back to reality? Its been a long hard road and now it has the potential to start panning out,, But 1 guy can`t do it all..

I would reevaluate my staff and make changes accordingly. If the people who are working for you aren't making it happen then maybe its time to look for new people. Or, maybe sell your ideas to one of the bigger companies and let them go with it. If your mind is not set on the prize then you never make it. h.h.

You are in too deep to give up now. Its far more satisfying to try as hard as you can and fail then to lay down and give up. If you stick with it, no matter what happens, you can look back someday and know that you pursued a dream of yours. Many of us have dreams but fear failure too much to ever even try. Swing for the fences my friend!

Well first off if this is your dream and you have things in the works, don't just give it up... IMO you need to have a sit down w/ your staff to see exactly what their level of commitment is in moving this forward. If they are not ready or are unwilling, then I agree w/ what h.h. has to say... Good luck

you know if the pay is good and the benefits are nice.... I would come work for you.... I may well end up divorced for it.... but that is a sacrifice that I may well be willing to make......
If your staff is not as committed as you are to making this dream a reality then perhaps it is time to get yourself a new staff...... I agree with what was said earlier... You have come way to far to just quit now... companies are looking at you for a reason... because they see something special and different in what you are doing... or in the way you are doing it....

You have come too far to give up now. If you have companies looking at you then you are doing something right. I would definitely have a sit down with the other people and see what they really want out of this. That is too much time and hard work to just say oh well and let it all go down the drain.

Sounds like any other small business really. You need to look at your employees and see if they're the rigth ones for you.

Ya, for sure don't give up. What's the point in giving up? To say what?
I would try and find a new staff, but it's hard to get someone to care enough to help your dream when they don't realize they're part of it. Does that make sense? Somehow they need to realize if they do their job well and above that helps not only themselves, but everything else in the chain. I don't know how to explain it I guess.
Good luck, and I hope you can find someone that takes pride in what they do no matter what the job.
By the way, who's to say you couldn't be the next personality? I don't think Will Primos knew exactly what he'd end up being when he started. I personally consider Primos to be the best at what he does.

Thanks guys, giving up is not what I want to do and I know there is no garauntees for myself or anyone but to sit back and make excuses why you can`t do something that could lead to bigger and better is something I have never understood. Back in the late 80`s I had short run outdoors show on a local station that had just started, it was called Indiana Outdoors. I was in my early 20`s and didn`t take it seriously and it wound up being more of a bill dance meets blue collar comedy special,,lol. Alot of water has ran under the bridge since then and I have done alot of growing up and learning from where I made my past mistakes I am trying to make this new venture be all it can be for myself and for those that help me. I have talked with fox 59 here in indy and they were interested in an outdoors show I had in mind and would love to make that a reality as well. Trying to work a full time job plus put all the time into this I can aint easy but I feel it is worth it. I am gearing up here this week to try and get some bow hunts in on some newly aquired private property so will be getting all the tree time I can with some helpful vaca time, if anyone would like to have their hunts filmed during shotgun and muzzle loader season and or late archery give me a shout would be more than happy to put it on the video and include everyones names that helped out. Thanks again. Tracy

That may have been my partner at the time that did that episode,,he was big time into bird hunting. I was more into deer and rabbit and squirrel and fishing. After that fell apart I dove into the bass fishing tourneys for a long time was on the water more than in the woods,,lol. I didn`t think very many people would have remembered that show but have talked with a few over the years that were regular watchers. Looking back I see the mistakes I made and try to not let the regrets eat me alive.

Give up ...it's not worth it! Just kidding! You will undoubtedly regret the decision not to pursue your dream. I would definitely go for it. There are hundreds of people out there with similar goals and work ethic that will fit your needs. You just need to find the right ones.

Most of us live but how many of us are really alive? To be able to set your sights on a goal and then work to accomplish that goal is more than most will ever be able to do. If you have an opportunity but don't have the right personnel, the smart thing is to not give up on your dream but to search out the right personnel. There is an old saying (and I'm sure I'll screw it up) that goes something like" What you are is God's gift to you, what you become is your gift to God". Now most who know me know I'm not a deeply religous man, but I'd give my left arm to be doing what I had always dreamed of doing. If you're in a place where you can handle it financially, don't let something like the wrong people ruin those dreams. There are always people out there who will share your same vision.
