Are horrible hostage negotiators. ;D
We just saw Coast Guard Commandant Thad Allen interviewed on AFN talking about how they were trying to negotiate with Kenya to prosecute the Somali Pirates. The interview obviously took place before news of the SEAL team's success hit. I jokingly told my wife that this is how that negotiation went...
US GOV: "Will you accept these four pirates for prosecution?" Kenya: "Not four, one maybe, but four is too many" US GOV: "Hold please."

They may be horrible negotiators, but they have certainly mastered the tools they wield.

There had already been enough negotiations time. They weren't going to let that captain go. Seals did their job. Now I am sure that the Seals gave them a chance to surrender and release their hostage. One chance. Hooray for the Seals.

What I find as totally hialrious is the MSM media propping up Obama with headline like the USAToday put out.. Obama scores early military win, avoids PR debacle content.usatoday.com/communities/theoval/post/2009/04/65396421/1Now, isn't that a joke? Obama gave an order to use deadly force IF the captian's life was threatened. He actually gave it twice. Why? Dunno.. But that should have been the order of the day 5 minutes into this stand off, not 3 or 4 days later.

Prior to the op, all the interviews were like "This is a military operation, the military is making all the decisions." Afterward, they make it sound as though Obama pulled the triggers.

I read yesterday where the captain and his family say the USN are the real heroes. No mention of Obama.
