Has any of you folks been asking while at check stations?
I asked at The Outdoorsman south of Greenwood last Thursday, they said they had checked 57 deer so far this year, at the same time last year they were over 200!

Most likely its been the warm weather. Heck, three weeks ago it was 90 degrees and a lot of guys don't like to go when its that warm.
I also think the doe harvest has thinned out the herd in my area a lot more than most would believe. Killing all these does has to have some effect on the amount of deer we see and in turn killing. h.h.

The last animal of either sex I saw over 1.5yrs (using my rather suspect aging abilities) was that 8pt. the weekend before bow season.

I asked the guy at Abes deer poc. outside Scottsburg and he said there were way down from last year. I didnt ask what "way down" meant could be 20 could be 100.

The weather turning cold should shoot numbers up shortly.

I agree with HH about the temps, but I also think it's got to do with the amount of foliage still on... I repositioned a 2-man buddy stand Wednesday afternoon (figured 20-30 mph winds was the perfect time to do that), and when I got up in the stand, it felt like hunting beginning of bow season... very few angles where I could see more than 30-40 yards...
Deer could be moving through 50+ yards away, and you'd never see them, and unless they're running, you won't hear them either...
