are there a ton more leaves on the trees at this point this year than there normally are? I've still got really heavy canopy in the woods I've been hunting and it seems like by the first week of November in all the seasons past that most of the trees have dropped 80% of their leaves. Heck, most of the Central part of the state has tons of green leaves that haven't even turned yet. It's just been a wacky year for weather this year. Dang Global Cooling..........

I know what you mean, was sitting on stand last night and thinking the same thing.

It seems to me they are always gone by november. You'd think that we'd remember stuff like that more exactly. I'm getting tired of them. I keep hearing deer that I can't see.

You guys are right. Leaf drop is occuring later this year. Back in August I was thinking that the trees would be bare by the end of September; it was so dry. But the 3-4 inches of rain we've had in the last month must have helped enough that the leaves are hanging on...
It's really screwing with scheduling at work. By now, we'd have gotten a lot of fall clean-ups done. We really haven't even started yet!

Seems to me it is usually a function of a heavy frost then the next wind and rain storms knock most down. I am thinking we usually have a good frost in mid to early October this year we just finally had one last week, I don't recall any before that.

I think duff is correct, in years past this is how it has been in my woods.

I was noticing the same thing about the leaves Friday evening. There is a lot more green in the woods this year than normal. We need some 20 degree weather for a few days to get things back to normal. h.h.

Monday and Tuesday I am guessing the rest will come on down... It is supposed to be very windy both days with winds 20-30 mph with gusts to 40..

I Keep a pretty detailed log of many things to do with hunting on a day by day basis. you are right in stating the woods are holding there leaves longer this year. However not as colorfull! This year is moving into November about a week or 10 days behind last year and the year befor. Just a few of many oberservations I kind of keep track of in my area.

It was raining leaves this morning with the wind! I would've been a leaf pile on the side of the tree if I didn't stand up every once in a while lol.

It seems like everything is a little behind in the woods this year. There are a lot of leaves up in my woods and many are still green as well.

OK.......thanks guys. I wasn't sure if I was loosing my memory or what. Glad that everyone agrees that we are behind schedule. With the 45mph gusts today and tomorrow it outta really rip down the majority of what's up there.

I was out repositioning a 2-man stand Wednesday pm and there's still a ton of trees with green on them... still looks like early October in a "normal" year...
The way things are going, I'm not sure a lot of this foliage is going to be off the trees by the time gun season opens...
