Got in my stand Sunday (10/28), about three in the afternoon, and around five had this eight point come in. Couldn't see him real well through the leaves, but I could see him when he would raise his head and rake his antlers through the tree limbs above him. Then he made a scrape. Thought he was going to come in on my right side so I turned and readied myself for a broadside shot. Instead he decided to jump the fence and come to my front, so I had to change position again as he offered me a 25 yard shot. I decided he was a nice buck so I spent my tag. He ran about 40 yards, stopped and stood for about five minutes, then went down. Not sure if he's big enough to mount, he's borderline, though I've thought about it. His main beam on the left side was broken when it was green, and grew straight down four inches then started growing back up. -Bill

I didn't get him weighed. I'm guessing he dressed at 170-180?

If that's what you want get him mounted. That's a nice buck. Good job.

Even if you don't do a shoulder mount I'd do something with him.

I would say closer to 200 lbs. If you do not want to spend the bucks for a shoulder just mount the antlers on a triangle board. That still looks nice.
