IF YOU WANT A QUICK AND EASY WAY TO HANG A TREE STAND WITHOUT WORRYING ABOUT HANGING ON TO A TREE. WE HANG AROUND 30+ STANDS A YEAR AND THE SAFEST WAY TO DO IT IS IF YOU HAVE A CLIMBER OR CAN USE ONE. GO UP THE TREE IN THE CLIMBER AND TIE THE HOIST ROPE TO THE STAND. GO UP TO DESIRED HEIGHT AND PULL UP THE STAND AND HANG IT. THEN ON THE WAY DOWN I WILL SCREW IN THE STEPS, THIS ALLOWS ME TO USE BOTH HANDS AND BE ON A SOLID PLATFORM WHILE HANGING MY SETS. JUST REMEMBER TO USE YOUR SAFETY BELT!

I would add that the use of a small tree step screwed into the tree leaving a gap of about 1/2 inch and leaving the step portion up then you can haul the stand up and leave it hanging after tying it off. Or if putting up a ladder stand use your quad to pull the stand into position and tighten the straps easily and safely. No heavy grunting or lifting of heavy ladders.

My buddy and I always carry in an extension ladder to use to put up the loc ons and T V antenas for our ladders. It is a pain but much easier and safer.

You know... that's really a pretty good idea. A Climbers going to have a MUC more stable platform for setting/tweaking a hang-on...
One of those "briliant flash of the obvious" moments...

I'm not allowed to use any screws or spikes on my UDZ property. I can use a Climber, Ladder or Strap/Hang on but no screws.
THe property is also a huge PITA to try to get an extention ladder into.
But I CAN see how I could carry a climber AND a hang-on out there with relative ease, and save the climbing sticks for later...

Ironsites stole my thoughts. That is one of those why-didn't-I-think-of-that moments. That's a much safer method than I've ever used. Thanks for sharing.

This is a good thread! For once no arguments about who's right and who's wrong.
