I would talk nicely to the landowner about it, and confirm whether they had permission just to hunt the ground, or if he said something about the stands.
I think in the initial discovery, I would have walked up and said, "Nice stand... do you know who put that up?" or maybe "If I'd have known you were going to hunt out of my stand, I'd have set up a 2-man buddy platform..."
I will tell you this... as a private landowner, I've been through the whole drill of giving a couple of guys permission to hunt and specific locations as to where they were to set up their stands... after which they ignored me, put their stands up right next to one another, and ended up in a fistfight in the woods over it... after which, I no longer give anyone permission to hunt my ground unless I'm hunting with them... so my advice is, get squared with the landowner sooner than later on what's up...

my two cents, keep the landowner out of it, he will shut hunting down to all of you guys, too much of head-ache to have the landowner get involved, as far as some one in your stand, that a no-no in my book, but you committed your-self on placing the stands,i know its' easier if the stand all set -up and you sneak in , i hunt with climbers,a little more work to bring in and set up,so no one know what tree i'm in and i could move if i want too, surely theres' a tree that a climber will climb.please invest in a harness !.... good luck reloader....turkey scout

That is what I would have expected. Hard to get to, long walk, hard to hunt. They won't be back. I've got a spot just like that, and it is holding a giant.

Well dang they have been back one day at least ,I think they plan to return as the rattling antlers of theirs that I had hung on the ladder is now up on the seat. Good one about the '2 buddy platform JKD ,Ill have to say that . Its just one stand dont do it,you go out to your area ,judge the wind & other things ,then decide which stand to go to. One guys getting in my best stand, boy it sure made it easy on them ?!?! The landowner never goes there,I dont want to get him even slightly upset,Ill just try to catch'em going in ,or out, have a civil hunters talk.
