Well my 2007 buck mount was finally finished this past Monday. However I had it done as a pedestal style and hadn't did anything for the pedestal yet I had cut the cedar down last spring and pulled the bark off this past winter and let it set in pole barn to dry. So between last night and this morning I came up with this. The base I made from 3/4" plywood and nailed/glued 3/4" cedar boards from Menards. The post is held in place by (3) 8" long lag screws from underneath. A little cutting, sanding and a light coat of poly and wal laa! I have about $40 into making the pedestal. The taxidermist was Ronnie Newsome of Brown County. He does about dozen heads a year and seems to do it more as a hobby. I think he did a pretty good job. The back side of the mount is done in velvet and trimmed with a decorative rope. Booner1331 did the scoring and submitted the paperwork to the NMLRA for the submission into the Longhunter Record Book (Thanks Mark) I took the buck in 2007 in Greene County. I had seen the buck 3 times that morning however it was way off. I knew if i wanted a shot I would have to put on a stalk. Luckily it was a windy day with the wind right in my face. 45 minutes later he cruised within range and sealed the deal with my .50 Cal TC ProHunter.
