Had a doe run directly under my stand yesterday and I attempted a spine shot because she was so close and right as I released the arrow she looked up at me and I buried a 100 grain muzzy between her eyes. The muzzy completely penetrated the skull and I had to unscrew the arrow shaft from the broadhead to remove it. This deer dropped in her tracks. I didn't intentionally shoot her in the head but it did make for an interesting photo.

Nice Shot but, probably not one you want to brag too much about. Some people could take it wrong...

Send a copy of that picture to Muzzy. They may even send you some free broadheads.

My friend in Florida son-in-law shot a hog in the head just like your doe but he didn't kill it. He said the hog ran off with the arrow stuck between its eyes. They tracked it but never did find it. We kid him about his porcupine hog. h.h.

hmmmmmmm how many hunters would intentionaly try a spine shot?? i know i wouldnt. I would and have. Even if you miss the spine you hit lungs, heart or both. Most of the spine shots are from directly above the deer so a miss is still a killing shot. h.h.

A spine shot is the ONLY guaranteed shot to insure 100% recovery of a deer. The only reason not to try it (I don't intentionally attempt it) is that it is a smaller and less obvious target than the traditional "kill zone". But what is unethical about being 100% sure that the deer will not run off and not be recovered? A spine shot will immediately end all pain as well as it severs the nervous system's route to the brain. If I could be as sure of getting the spine as I was of hitting the vitals, I wouldn't hesitate to take that shot. I have spine shot 4 deer in the last few years and I always appreciate the tracking job...100% fatal, 100% recovery.

I think its a great shot unless you are going to do a shoulder mount , I do however think that it would make a cool european mount....
