I spent 3 days in hunting camp...(sure picked lousy weather for my fall break but I wasn't going to sit at home and cry about it) It was tough hunting to be sure. I saw bucks chasing does 3 different times in three different places. Two were young six pointers I saw while hunting and one was a dandy 8 pointer I saw while driving at night. He was right on the tail of a doe that I had cross right in front of me. He stopped when I stopped and I looked at him for 20 seconds or so before he turned and walked off. He was DEFINETLY dogging that doe. It isn't getting too serious yet, but some of the boys are beginning to bother some of the girls. Saw a lot of fresh rubs too. Next weekend might be fun. I did score my second deer this morning (10/20). It was a button buck that I could have sworn was a doe. He was walking with a much smaller little yearling doe and I just assumed he was the mother. I didn't see different until I got down to get him and it was only a 22 yard shot. I don't shoot buttons on purpose, but I will be glad to eat him on purpose.

Good shot. I did the same thing at clifty park. A button came in with a tiny doe fawn. The button so dwarfed the other deer ( 80 lbs dressed ) that I assumed it was mom and focused on taking a shot. I was astonished to discover that it was a buck. Who ever heard of a fawn dressing 80 lbs?
All you H.I. members scoring are making me proud---and Jealous!

They must be different then what I saw! Just does feeding almost 30 in 2 days. I small buck by himself. Now granted I ran approx 22 deer out of field on way in didn't see any antlers....tho, the others were from stand.....it will get going in about 15 days, IMO!

Did not see any bucks or chasing, only 3 does at distance this weekend. Did find two nice scrapes, both with antler marks and hooves, not just your territorial kick outs. My guess is that chasing is going to start next weekend or couple days after, by Nov 3/4 chase will be if full swing.
