At what point do you say the wind is too much to hunt? I have both a ground blind and stands, but more interested in your experience with movement in regards to the wind.

any wind over 20 + mph is bad for deer movement. I rarely see any deer if the wind is that fast. h.h.

Ditto on the 20+. When that happens I go on the prowl in the thick stuff & leeward sides of the hills & ridges.

Weather channel.com says high winds for the next 2 or 3 days. They gotta eat and drink some time. I agree high winds aren't the best for movement, but in patterns like this one they will be moving at some point.

That was what I was looking at as well. But Deertracks makes a good point that it would be a good time to do some stalking. and with the warmer weather, setting up futher in the woods on a water source may be the ticket.

I usually have found that when the weather calls for high wind speeds for the day you still have the first few hours of light before the wind reaches the high speeds. You might have gust every now and then, but the constant hight wind speeds don't take effect until later in the morning. USUALLY, not always.

Yeah, problem is I only have Sunday afternoon/evening to hunt. But I have to go out there anyway and do some work, so I will just take my hunting gear with.

It really wasn't all that bad in Northern Warrick county.
It laid real well about 45 minutes before quitting time tonight.
the deer seemed to move well too..

I still see deer moving in high winds, but they are skiddish as heck. The biggest problem with hunting the wind for me is that I can't hear them. That really makes it rough. You have to be looking right at them to find them.
Often times deer will head for open fields and pastures when the wind is up. My father in law sat in a ground blind Friday during the gale force winds and saw 23 deer throughout the afternoon in that field.

I killed a buck last October that dressed out at over 200 pounds on a day when the wind nearly was knocking me out of my tree. It shocked me too, and he`s the first deer I`ve ever killed on a day like that, but it taught me to never let the weather keep me from being out. He`s easily the biggest bodied deer I`ve ever killed.
