In years past the 1st reduction hunts have aways been the first Monday and Tuesday after the Saturday opening of gun season and the second hunt the first Monday and Tuesday after the closing Sunday of gun season.
Last year they moved the 1st hunt to the Monday and Tuesday before the opening Saturday of gun season and kept the second on the Monday and Tuesday after the closing Sunday of gun season.
This year they moved the 1st hunt to Monday and Tuesday after the second Saturday of gun season and the 2nd hunt to the Monday and Tuesday after the opening Saturday of muzzleloader season.
What I don't understand is why? Most guys who have a job will have to work on the first Monday after Thanksgiving in order to get paid for the Thursday and Friday holiday or be able to take vacation days. Most employers require you to work the day before and day after the holiday in order to get paid.
I wonder how many didn't realize the first hunt was the Monday and Tuesday after the Thanksgiving weekend? Not very good planning by the DNR. I'm also wondering how many guys wont show up because they didn't realize this until after they applied.
If you are listening DNR then you might want to keep this in mind next year. h.h.

PA and I believe Ohio start their firearms season on the first Monday after Thanksgiving. Of course, in many parts of those states they also close the schools down.
