I wasn't really sure where to start this thread so I just did it here. Does anybody hog hunt? A guy I work with was talking about giving it a try. We really don't know too much about it but was wanting to find out anything we could. Any information you wanna share would be great. Thanks!

I like to hog hunt once in a while. Check down in the big game forum. Usually they talk about hog hunting there.

Hogs in TN will 99% be with a fence, just an FYI.
There are a LOT of free-range hogs all over.....

My buddy and his brother went on a hog hunt in TN, and it was a joke! They video taped the hunt and you can see the guides pushung hogs past their stand, which by the way, were along a fence. The guides lied to my buddy about the type of hunt it was. My buddy was very upset and refused to shoot a hog.

id love to do it before i croak,id rather do a natural hunt but it sounds as if the only way around these parts is to buy a fenced hunt.

Georgia and Florida seems to be the place to go for free ranging hunts. I would go to GA first, if I could.

Georgia has limitations on what you can use for hogs on public land. Private land you aren't limited, but public land you are pretty much limited to bows and small game equipment unless deer season is in....

heading to Texas late spring, to hunt free range hogs on 5,000 + acres. As many hogs that is possible to take. just the cost of getting there. Board furnished in an older farm house and all hogs taken will be given to the farm workers. Looks like we have 5 guys going so far plus there are coyotes, cats and any other type of varmints we can get in our sights.

I have been to Texas a few times with my family. When we were driving in there we hogs all over the corn fields and cotton fields. He showed us a 3 ft old rusted fence around the property. Many times we saw the hogs jump the fence. Over all there were many hogs and you could also shoot unlimited varmints for free (squirels, coyote, bobcat, armidillo, ringtail, and some others). Had a good stay and good food. Plan on returning this spring.

Hog hunts are a HOOT! ;D I've hunted a couple different places in Tenn., yrs. back. I have also hunted Texas a couple a times. My last trip to Texas was in 2006. My buddy and I went to a 15,000 acre ranch about 120 miles SW of San Antonio, between Uvalde and Eagle pass. The hunt was all the hogs you wanted to shoot, 1 javelina, bobcats, and coyotes. We killed 6 hogs, and 2 javelinas in 3 days. I hope to get back there one of these days. Here are some pics. Doc and me with 3 hogs taken 1 evening. Doc with his javelina A sow I killed with my .45-70 A javelina in front of the blind. My javelina taken 1st morning. south Texas brush country. Mad Dog
