www.santacruzsentinel.com/ci_10746125?source=most_emailedAre we going to see this on a national scale under the new administration? What say you Duff and Mbogo? I know you guys work in the industry too. I'm pretty sure this is going to be something that gets railroaded through, most likely looking something like the NPDES regs.

Considering 90% of our heat is from wood, I'd have a HUGE problem with that. Our furnace is 50+ years old, doesn't work and isn't worth fixing. We can't afford a new one right now (as badly as I want to quit cutting wood ), so our main source of heat is from the stove. There is supplemental heat from electric baseboards in a couple of rooms, but not in every room.

The do gooders are taking over.. We burn wood when it gets fairly cold. The insert in my firepalce will heat all 1600 square feet of the house. It is one level, so that helps. Hopefully this kind of stuff will never make it to quaint little Newburgh..

Like I told the neighbors, that pile of wood is just there to help block the wind. It works so well I haven't fired up the furnace yet this year.

It's been discussed at length in Indiana over the past several years. Mainly a local issue but does get some state/national attention at times. Most of the issues I have read were in regard to the outdoor boilers as the stacks are usually low, the burn is not very effecient so it produces lots of smoke and they can use substandard wood/green which also increases the smoke.
Like many things it only takes the right people to make a stupid subject a law. It's worth keeping your ear to the ground if you really love heating with wood.

I wish I still heated with wood!!!!!! It warms you twice, once when ya cut it-once when ya burn it I wish mine only warmed me twice. Once when I cut it, once when I split it, once when I stack it, once when I get it to the house and finally it's burned and produces the heat it's meant to give off. ;D By my count that's a minimum of 5 times. ;D ;D ;D The worst part of heating primarily with wood is going anywhere for more than about 36 hours can pose some issues.

My brother lives in Mass and many towns have placed a moratorium on the outdoor wood furnances because of the pollution.

I know banning them was at least discussed in Greencastle very recently; I think they may have gone past simply discussing it though....
