H.R. 6257 was introduced by Rep. Mark Kirk (IL-10) on June 12, 2008 and seeks to re-instate the Assault Weapons Ban indefinitely as well as to expand the list of banned weapons. Four co-sponsors (as of June 27, 2008) support it:
Rep Castle, Michael N. [DE] - 6/12/2008 Rep Ferguson, Mike [NJ-7] - 6/12/2008 Rep Ros-Lehtinen, Ileana [FL-18] - 6/18/2008 Rep Shays, Christopher [CT-4] - 6/12/2008
The AWB Resolution from 2008 (H.R. 6257) by Rep. Kirk is a even more draconian version of the `94 AWB restricting even multiple shot weapons like pump shotguns and several types of semi-automatic pistols and even revolvers. It is currently being reviewed by the House Judiciary Committee's subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security.
The original intent was to have the bill passed through House and Senate and on the Presidents desk for his signature on the day of the inauguration. Now that the election is over, that bill is going to be fast tracked. This will be on us sooner, rather than later.

What pump shotgun, sold them years ago..... I truly hope that's tongue-in-cheek. Sarcasm is hard to distinguish sometimes in type. Just because you don't own a pump, doesn't mean your semi-auto's won't be next (chances are, I bet they are on the list anyway if they've got pumps on there.....). DON'T GIVE THEM AN INCH-- they'll take a foot and then some.

Never allow them to know what you own or sold. I too have sold or lost my weapons. Come get me if you can.

The fact that the Heller case has thrust gun rights very glaringly into the public eye makes it unlikely that an AWB bill will pass for awhile, the entire House is up for reelection in less than two years and the dummycraps most assuredly want to keep their majority. After those elections it's anyone's guess what will happen.

My take on it is that they will ABSOLUTELY bring it up... for the sole purpose of publicly shooting it down - to show that they aren't really anti-gun.
In the meanwhile, Robert Kennedy's EPA will, using the CDC "report" on Lead in Game Meat, administratively ban all lead in hunting ammunition.
Simultaneously, an administrative change in the Tax Code will place burdeonsome taxes on Handgun and "Military/Sniper" ammunition (.308, .223, 7.62x39, etc).
Finally, Purchase & Possession of Propellants (gun powder) will be moved to a regulated-permit status by Homeland Security/DOT.
All of this can be done without a vote by anyone - and the Pro RKBA faction can't stop it.
The paradigm for the coming administration is, as The One said: "You can still do X - but we will bankrupt you."

And yet, you haven't explained why you feel this is not viable politics.
Politics is all about saying one thing to make yourself look good while doing somthing totally different.
Are you saying the Reid/Pelosi/Schumer/Kirk wing of the One Party State don't act like this?

My take...
I hope that after this administration Powderfinger and 76chevy can gloat until the cows come home.
The reality of the matter is that California has been a proving ground for this type of legislation, and all copper ammunition is a reality for hunters in large areas. I don't particularly care for paying the prices for Copper Solids.

They never have responded when any of Obama's own words have been posted proving his anti-gun beliefs or any of his other extremely socialistic views. I actually don't know what they think they are going to accomplish on here - we know where Obama and Biden stand from their words and actions in the past. Obama ran to the center as fast as he could - yet his rabid followers want to gloat that the country is now in love with a socialist state Face it chevy and powderfinger; we're not buying any of it, nor are we going to - I find pictures and snide remarks to be particularily ineffective,

Face it chevy and powderfinger; we're not buying any of it I'm still amazed that these hunting brethren....who are passionate enough about their hunting lifestyle to take so much time everyday to talk about hunting, share their hunting stories, and pass on their hunting experiences are so naive and so willing to approve Obama and all he stands for. I've looked at him and his "plan" up and down, inside and out and the ONLY thing I can find that he and I agree on is getting insurance co's to do away with the pre-existing condition exclusions on policies. You two, and 53% of America have been sold a bill of goods that will eventually erode our Freedom and Liberty.... how sad.

Fellers,
There is more than one reason to vote for or against a candidate. Sometimes one reason will over ride the other reasons.
I'm going to close this one as we are starting to talk about members and not the subject.
Questioning a candidate is one thing, but questions/comments directed at members is another.
