I have hunted all day during the rut several times. First day of gun I will normally stay on stand all day or until I get something.

I hunt all day as often as I can..... pre-rut seems to be the best time thought.... when they are seeking.... Plus most deer actually have a mid day move for water and food....

The last week of Oct and first week of November if time allows I'm in for the duration... Take ya a big pee-bottle, pack your lunch, and get comfy for the long haul!

The only time I hunted all day was when I had an enormous 8 point bed down with a doe about 55-60 yards from me in a bunch of saplings. It was cold and it was rainyand I didn't have a shot at him. They were there from 10:30 till about 45 minutes before dark.
They would stand up and stretch about every hour or so. My day was ruined when a hunter on the property next to me racked off some rounds at some running doe. They made it past his spray and pray saga, and came barreling into the woods where I was hunting king kong and his girlfriend. Needless to say, they spooked Brutus and his sugar momma, and that was all she wrote. Soaking, freezing, and skunked I packed my trash and headed home.

I dont get to hunt the first wkend due to our anniv. but from then on out if the wheather is warm I hunt til about 10 or 11 of the morn, the go back out about 3pm. But the way the temps are this morn I might stay all day Then on halloween it's all day. I take the groceries and water and stay in the stand all day thru the first wk of Nov. I see more buck activity that wk than the rest. I take that whole wk off for vaca. After that I'll hunt like on a fri and sat all day.

I sit all day whenever possible. I agree with Salty that timeframe between Halloween and and the first week ov Nov is really good.

I do saome all day sits during the first week of Nov. I may not stay in the same stand, but if I have to get out I will just move to another stand and so on until dark.
I do go out at odd times some as well. Not leave the house until 9 or so. Ive killed several deer from 10 - 2 during all times of the hunting season.

lol I dont sleep late unfortunately even when I want to!
Last year my girlfriend killed her buck at 1:30 the second weekend of gun season. I was in the tree with her, we left the house at 11 am. It was not a forced movement that we know of. But especially during gun season if your in the stand when others are coming in or going out you can also see some deer movement.
I've killed several bucks during the middle of the day. but not sure if I can say the majority. My standards have changed a lot over the last 10 years.

First six hours from sun-up for me. I just can't cut-it all day anymore. Pre-Rut is the most active.

Pre rut during the chasing phase. Man you can see a lot bucks those days all day.
Seems I see the bigger bucks between 11-2 when it happens, but it could just be coincidence.
Unfortunately I won't be able to do that at all this year.
