So many stories and so many pictures. I bet this ends up being a banner season. I'm sure the good weather contributed as well. My friend took his 13 YO grandson and tagged one by 8:30AM on Saturday. Got to try out my new processing set up. Got her all cut up and packaged lickity split.

I agree I have heard of several youth kills over the weekend..... the funny thing is my buddies 11 year old who has killed every other youth season did not get a shot this time.... he saw plenty of deer but could not get a clear shot at any of them...... give him credit though for knowing the shots offered were bad and not taking them.

The first youth season was a wash out and I believe last year they had bad weather also. This year the weather was much better.

My son saw 3 does but with all the leaves couldn't get a clear shot. Had a clean shot at a nice buck but you know how that goes. Congrats to everyone of the youth that went out. While he didn't get a doe he did get the fever :-)

Jake had pretty much the same luck as your son TagTeamHunter. Saturday morning hunt we saw nothing on stand and I lagged back on the hike in to camp as we came up on the gas line that cuts through the HNF. Jake stalked up to the edge and looked to his right to see a nice 8 pointer feeding at 20 yds. He had about 20 seconds to shoot before the buck became aware of his presence. That's two years in a row he's had gimme shots on bucks. If the law doesn't change, we'll probably pass on the youth season next year. I just don't understand giving the kids a special weekend and then cutting their harvest opportunities in half.
Sunday, we had two separate pairs of does come within 40 yds., but as luck would have it, I was between the deer and my grandson and he didn't manage to get off a shot.
Jake and I would like to extend our congratulations to all the successful hunters.
