I have only ever had one person come to look at the deer out of all the deer I have checked in. Most the time they just give me the metal tag and say here ya go.

Every place that I checked in a deer they either went out themselves or sent someone else out to look at the deer. Guess they felt it was their place to do so since they were saying that the deer was what I said it was. Most also weighed the deer unless I said no need as it was a real dink. Most of the time I wanted it weighed anyway.

The store near me always comes out and verifies what you have and watches you *CLICK* the tag.

bring back the LTL for 3-5 years
price them at $2500+ with a sliding scale for age (ie older=lower cost)
the state would raise TONS of revenue from this and many would get the LTL they missed out on before they discontinued the program

I think that would be the most simple plan, maybe put a 6 point minimum on the second buck and bring back the lifetime license.

this sounds good to me

They dont need to bring back the LTL. You shoulda bought one when they were available. Now that there gone People are regretting not getting one. I like the rules the way they are now. No need to change those either. Getting tired of everyone whinning about the OBR. If you want more than 1 buck there is a legal way to get another. Urban hunting.

Check stations are a joke. Last year during the youth hunt a neighbor kid shot a 6 pointer. He took it to a check station and checked it in. Left it to be processed, they even cut the rack off and gave it to the kid. When I heard about it I told him to expect a visit from the CO, it went right through and never had a visit. I couldn't figure that one out.

That one definitely should have been checked on. That is unreal.

Urban hunting.Great Jim why don't we all come out to your urban zone and hunt then? I do not have a LTL the reason for that is I was a kid and could not afford one... then I joined the military and when I got out and came home they were gone.... but I guess I should have bought one when I was a kid instead of helping my mom pay bills and making sure there was food in the house when she was to strung out to get it herself. The point behind this is not everyone is as fortunate as you to have urban land to hunt... or to have had the opportunity or the funds to buy a LTL.... Oh and for the record... I could care less if the OBR stays or goes.... I hunt what ever I legally can and am happy to be afforded the opportunity to do even that.

There isn't an urban zone where I live. How about it Jim can I hunt your place and stay there for free and eat free too? Bottom line is Urban Zones are not everywhere or easily accessible to everyone. And if you want a true OBR then that is what it should be. No being able to work the system. One Buck no matter how and you are done.

Like a few have said already, I too would do away with the Landowner Exemption. I would require a small game license at normal cost for hunting small game, and create a Resident Landowner tag available at $15 for the hunting of deer. My issue with the exemption is that the deer and animals, even though they are on private property, are still the property of the people of Indiana. Just because you own the land and pay taxes shouldn't allow a person to harvest the same animal that a non-landowner pays for. In an effort to reduce the "change" to my plan the landowner tag would be considerably less than a typical deer tag, but yet it still is there to generate much needed monies for the IDNR......and it creates some accountability for the landowner to play by the rules if they have to purchase and carry an IDNR issued tag for their deer.

One Buck no matter how and you are done. I think thats the biggest problem the DNR has to face is the simple fact that no matter what Plan they put in place people will figure out how to work it. There are alot of guys that do the right thing and follow the rules and whether they like it or not they do it. But whitetails are an addiction, their elusiveness and their stealth are the challenges we as hunters crave and can`t get enough of, and there isn`t a hunter out there that doesn`t want more, well there may be a very few that are satisfied with 1 but for the most part we can`t get enough.

We're not talking about catching cheaters, just want to simplify what has turned into a mess over time; yet still give DNR a system they can use to regulate herd to ensure a good herd for years to come. (and I don't mean attempt to manipulate the bucks for the outfitters) Just so I'm not being misundesrstood; as I have posted before, if DNR came out and said - we have a serious doe population problem and we need your help so this year will be does only - I would have no problem with that.

The landowners who are feeding the deer all year should get a break.

[glow=red,2,300]How about it Jim can I hunt your place and stay there for free and eat free too?[/glow] Now why would I do that? I don't get it for free so why would I let a begger do it?

Not working the sysyem. Just helping out where it is needed. All legal and by the rules. However I think it should be a set number of urban does taken before an urban buck can be shot.
