My wife and I are goin on vacation at the end of this month(gotta get it in before season), and she decided she wants to go to West Virginia. We are having a hard time deciding on where exactly to go and what lodge/cabins to stay at. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to go, stay at, or what sites to see? Any help would be appreciated because I have looked at lodges and cabin rentals until I'm blind. Thanks.

Plenty of cabins around the river and a lot to do. Fish, rafting ATV, horseback or just take in the sights. Nice area.

If you are into whitewater rafting the Gauley River is probably in some top ten list in the world for doing that. If you do decide to try it I would suggest contacting ACE Whitewater Rafting. IMHO they are the best outfit there. Our Scouts have made many trips there with them and have always been treated right. ACE also offers caving, rock climbing and a host of many other activities.

You do not state what interest are. If you have ATV or willing to rent ATV go to Gilbert West Virginia type in Hatfield McCoy trails and see all the good places to stay. Ride ATV in town and such. Go on off park rides also.

I have rafted with Ace on the New and Gauley Rivers and stayed in their Chalets and even pitched a tent on their property when they first purchased their property in the 1980's. Jerry Cook started the company and he is from Southeastern Indiana. Very nice place. The Gauley River is not for everyone though, Be sure you are in good physical shape before attempting that ride. I have pulled my share of overweight, out of breath, swimmers out of that river.

Well we made reservations at a place that has the chalets, we can take the dog with us and they have a lot to do. We are close to the Gauley(sp) River and can do the rafting and ATV riding and just pretty much anything you can think of. Thanks to evreyone who helped me out. I gotta hit Cabelas for sure.

Blackwater Falls state park is cool. There is also the Dolly Sods recreation area in the same area. Davis, WV.

Ha, no problem. I bet you would like a couple new guns, maybe a bow for hunting and one for target, oh and maybe a new bass boat while I'm there. I gotcha covered.
