What time (morning or evening) will you hunt squirrel in August? Is mid-day a waste of time?
I am looking at 1-1/4 hours drving time to the woods. Should I be there before sun rise? Thanks Gary

I have my best luck in the morning They do more cutting then than in the evening. The also just seem to be more active.

I have to agree with them being more active in the mornings. You don't have to skip the evenings though, because of course any time you can be in the woods is a good time.

I like to be in the woods before first light and on a still morning I can hear them pretty easily and will then adjust my position accordingly. I hunt for maybe 2 - 3 hours or so.

I am planning on a one or two night backpacking / squirrel hunting trip in Charles Deam wilderness the week of 18 August.
Sort of a "kill it and grill it" right there at camp.
