We were kicking this discussion around last weekend and decided that northern are better tasting than walleye, more firm and a better "fish flavor", and that bluegill are a little better than crappie for the same reasons.
I rank bluegill as tops.
What do you think?

Bluegill, perch, northern, and walleye are all fighting for the top spot. It really comes down to the waters their caught on. All things considered I would have to say I enjoy all 4 equally. Personally, although I love crappie, I just don't think it has as much flavor as the other 4 mentioned. Good, absolutely, but it's just missing that "little something" that the others have. Catfish are absolutely delicious, but the flavor is far different than any other freshwater fish so it's hard to really compare it against the others.

Walleye and big northern pike.

No Doubt Bluegill for me!
I grew up where I could walk out to back 40 and catch native trout from a stream on our property. I'm just not a big fan of trout.
I'm pretty much with Decatur

Hands down jumbo perch from L. Michigan #1, Bluegill, small trout, small catfish, crappie, salmon.
It's been way too long since I had a fresh perch dinner I caught and cleaned myself...dang it. Absolutely nothing better IMO. Has to be the jumbo as those french fry bait stealing suckers only make good bait.
