I have a confession to make: I went carp fishing yesterday! And, I enjoyed it!!
Caught one 5+ lbs on ultralight with 4# line. Almost like deep sea fishing!
I'm looking for some bait recipes. I wonder what kind of bait concoctions y'all use? If you're ashamed to admit fishing for carp openly, you can PM me.

I usually just use canned corn, or night crawlers. There are dough bait recipes allover the net. I have used garlic and vanilla flavor with some success. There's nothing wrong with carp fishing! Great fighting fish that can be very finnicky at times. Just ask the European match fishermen! I have a cousin that ONLY fishes for carp. He even went on a guided trip. They get pretty large as well. My grandma used to can carp, and it tasted very similar to canned tuna.

Just a can-o-corn is all you need..... Some guys have some scientific baits and rigs to nail them with,, but really just a good ol can a corn and a single hook is all ya need... I've taken my share of carp also... They are fun when you can find a good group of them..

My son and his buddy are big into carp fishing. In fact Josh has bugged me about joining CAG (Carp Anglers Group).
They fish quite a bit at Indy Lakes on Southport Rd and at Hubbards in Waverly. The pay lake fishing is a blast as you can win some big money if you get into their pools. I have been several times but my son goes about once a week.
Some of the pools at Indy lakes are over $1000.00, so you can win some real money!
