I finally got up to our hunting ground and did a walk about.
I found two dead ones by a creek bed. One was a 2 1/2 year old 8 pointer. No doubt one I had got on my trail camera. The other was a doe. Both were long dead and all that remained was skin and bones. The buck still had velvet. I did not find a fresh carcasses so maybe the disease has run it's course - fingers crossed.
I walked about a mile of creek bed that was mostly dry and around a stripper pit.
Acorns were almost non-existent. What there were was very small..

Hate to hear that Woody. Me and my boy found 3 last Wednesday evening. I'm hoping like you that it has ran it's course where I hunt as well. All I found was a bunch of bones also. Two of them were bucks and the one had not lost his velvet before dieing either.

I talked last night to Phil Potter that writes an outdor column for the Evansville Courier and Press and he said that Sugar Ridge, which is only a few miles from me, was hit hard.
Hopefully the EHD is done here..
Perusing a lot of other state's boards I've found out that a LOT of states have had it this year.

My son found two more on our 80 acres yesterday, a small buck and a doe. He found another on the neighbors a couple weeks ago. Yesterdays deer had been there for several days. This was in north east Warrick Co.

I've walked a couple of my hunting properties in NW Jackson Co. and have not found any dead. Maybe it has missed my little corner of the world.

Found a buck last weekend and got a whiff of one in the cornfield beside my house right before dark. I will investigate that one in the morning.

Updat: Well, if the places I hunt don't have it, it's close. Friend of mine found three on his place, and he is about 3 miles north of me.

Checked out our hunting ground by Deputy today in Jennings County. No dead ones on our property but heard reports from a couple farmers of dead deer on properties nearby. Graham creek had a bunch of dead ones in it and a couple of the smaller creeks along IN-250. Saw some buzzards circling a nearby corn patch and then walked toward it and caught the stench of something - definitely one dead in the field somewhere. Don't know how hard it got hit but there was definitely no where near the sign we normally see.
