I lifted this from Saturday's meeting minutes of the FWCC:
Deer harvest – Jim Mitchell, DNR Deer biologist reported that Parke and Putnam counties has a few hundred deer deaths from Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease (EHD) and a total of 19 counties reported infected deer. After having the infection, deer have a groove on the hoof from the high fever.

Good post. Pardon my ignorance. Please explain "groove on the hoof". Thanks Jack.

no idea...you'll need to ask the deer biologist for the state, Dr. Mitchell.
