Dang, Camby is going to ruin hunting by jumping on a lease. Who would have thunk it??? What is the world coming too. I guess it would be useless to go back and cut and paste all the things he's said about leasers and lease brokers? ?? LOL

By the way, we looked at the place in Morgan County last night, I was not impressed.
It's 500 acre but completly surrounded by houses and right outside the Patton Lake area. Not very much road frontage and lots of the woods has been logged HEAVILY....making lots of th land un huntable being that houses are so close. We were down there from 4pm till dark and seen 5 deer in a field.
We just drove around and didnt get out and do any scouting, I can't imagine how one could keep all the folks in the houses off the land....still looking!

Do some food plots and work the land to improve it, and wait. That's what leesors normally do. Leases aren't a dime a dozen and you have to take what's available.

In other words, you're saying "Do all the work plus the expense of the food plots, at Hunter's expense, not counting the lease fee, while the landowner & "Middleman" does nothing but collect money on the landowner's "improved ground". Sound to me like those Hunters will be doing more work than Hunting and at their expense. As "Decatur" says: Thank you middle men!

No David, you could do neither if you want. You can take the easy road and quit hunting if you want. And of course get on the Internet and blame it all on a lease or lease broker and landowner. Here it is real simple. Lots of people looking for hunting rights on property. I have a list of at least 300 guys that want a good lease RIGHT NOW if I can find one that suits them. Most of those people just want to hunt, they do do the Internet whining thing about where the money goes. IF someone can find them a spot, and the end price is within their price range, then they are more than happy to take the lease. Most leases now days go to groups set up to afford the price. And all of them want the same thing--long term and the ability to work food plots. That is at their own expense, as they are leasing hunting rights, and food plots are essential to just hunt. Heck, with Camby entering into a lease, the next thing you know, he'll be finding leases for others. Camby, the lease broker?

But I have a better method in securing hunting property....I am going to buy some! ;D

I'm guessing from some of the numbers he was throwing around and comments like I only have one airplane left and I just bought a helicopter...Pete's not hurting for land to hunt on !

We considered buying but the investment is just too great. We are planning a management program, we will be meeting after the first of the year to discuss the rules

Not all people can afford to buy ground. So if you want to hunt someplace without having to worry about everyone else then Lease the ground. If you dont care about that then save your money. I have to admit its nice not worrying if someone has got there before you, or get there extra early just to have somebody show up at daylight. *****FOR ALL PEOPLE WHO LEASE, PLEASE DON'T RUIN IT FOR THE NEXT GUY*******

In one thread you've got a yeehaw going on about rifles in deer season and how great it is to get all kinds of new hunters, even the women and kids out in the woods with rifles.
Then in nearly the next thread gripes and complaints about leasing, middle men, and lack of enough ground to support the hunters out there right now.
Do people use their brains for anything beyond cushioning their seat any more?
