After some target shooting Saturday with Tristan, he was pumped about going that night, so we headed out and set up the blind and got comfy for the evening. Right before dark, I look out one window and see antlers coming over the hill then behind them were a bigger set. Somehow in the hussle of getting him ready for the shot, they had disappeared when I looked back out. But, there were 2 does coming in, so we continued getting ready for them, but only to have the landowner on his tractor mess that one up for us. So we headed back out last night and threw the blind back up again but about 30 yds closer to where we had seen the deer last night. Around 5:15, I see a big doe heading our way with a button buck in tow. We get all set up to take the doe which is now about 30 yds, but he decides he wants this one that is out at about 65 yds. and broadside. Now I'd gave anything to had a camcorder in hand at this time, as he's breathing so hard and shaking, I'm figuring that if he does shoot that he's going to completely miss. LOL. He tells me that he's on it and ready, so I tell him to let'r rip. No sooner than that gets out of my mouth, smoke is flying!!!!! He up and made a heck of a shot for a nice kill. I couldn't be any happier or prouder. Not really sure though who was shook up the worst sitting there in that blind those last few seconds before he shot. LOL. I asked him later if it was worth it going all those times we went and didn't see anything, or didn't get "the shot", but now to finally kill one, was it worth all that time we put in, and he said "yes". Now he's got the itch to go out again tonight. I told him I'd take him whenever he wants. Last night was one of the proudest moments of my life being there with him. I couldn't be any happier. It's definetly a day I'll always cherish!!!!!

Thanks guys......
My wife emailed me this morning to tell me that he was bouncing off the walls this morning as he counldn't wait to get to school to tell his friends about it.... LOL
10point, he is shooting a .45 Rossi topped with a Bushnell 1.75-4x32 scope and loaded with a 50 gr Pyrodex pellet and a 200 gr T/C Shockwave. Thanks to DEC for all the help he gave me on this awesome little gun back in September before the youth hunt. Thanks again buddy!!!! He's a young'n as he's only 6. He'll be 7 come Februaury. We were out shooting there on Sat. at a couple 2" dots on a cardboard box @ 50 yds and he was doing great. So I get out this big target of a deer (dang near lifesize) for him to take a crack at. I told him that if he hit it in the right spot that I'd give him $5. Well, I kissed that good bye. He nailed it!!!! I'll try to throw up a pic of that later.

I just bought my 7 year old Rossi 22/20 guage. Couldn't find the one with the muzzleloader. Cabelas couldn't even get one for me at this time. I plan on getting just the muzzleloader later. Unfortunately my 7 year old doesn't show as much interest as your Son does. I think I will try to start him on squirrels first.
