Well saturday evening I came the closet to shooting a Boone & Crocket deer than i've ever had. I watched this deer with a doe feed across a cut bean field on the neighbors property heading right for our cut bean field. There was a guy hunting this property but I couldn't see him anywhere. This buck was down to the last 90 yards from crossing onto our place when the neighbor guy shot this deer. After dark I helped him track this deer but he decided to back out after trailing about 200 yds. Didnt see him yesterday so i'm not sure if he recovered it yet. I was sick to my stomach and I'm sure he was too after not finding it that evening. Anyone else been in that situation?

Hopefully he finds it. Please keep us posted.
It sure is disappointing to have close encounter like that and not get a shot but it's one of the many things that keep us coming back for more.

I hope your neighbor finds the buck if he killed it.
I've not had a huge buck shot in front of me before, but I have been close to shooting a definite booner. I was within 10 yards of one during archery season and couldn't get a shot due to brush. It is still one of my most memorable hunts.

I havent talked to the guy yet. I'm sure i'll see him this weekend sometime while i'm hunting. I'll be sure to post a pic if he got it. I've got a bad feeling that the shot wasnt so good.
