It's called DEER (bow, firearm and muzzleloader) season
I do not begrudge anyone for killing any legal deer that they may choose to kill. It's their choice and their deer.
I do not like, nor use, terms like "brown and downer".

No, my opinion doesn't change. If a hunter obeys the laws, is safe, and ethical, then I have no problem with what they shoot.

Trolling?you ask, You bet,it seems folks on this and the other site have a different view of a "GUN" hunter and a "MUZZLELOADER" hunter for some reason, your thoughts. Not tryin to stir up trouble just a lil curious is all. I'm with Woody it's just DEER HUNTING!!!!

In short, no.
"In Long" though, 2 types of "brown & down" IMO, and they get intentionally conflated by some of the more radical of the "Antlers Uber Alles" types.
There is the "brown & down" that will shoot the first thing they see, regardless of size. Much of the "Orange Army" fits into this category, along with the stigma placed on "weekend hunters" who don't/won't actually spend much time in the woods. As far as I can tell, most of this type of "brown & down" doesn't hunt muzzleloader.
Then there are those who hunt Large Deer, regardless of antlers. These are also considered by some to be "brown & down" because they don't get off on antler wagging. Lots of Muzzleloaders in this subset.
But regardless, a Legal deer is a Legal deer. Just because some choose to pass one up, whether it be for QDM, personal preference or snobishness doesn't mean everyone must.
Besides, I would venture to guess that far less "brown & down" deer gets wasted than "oops, wrong rack" deer does.

Thats true Woody...but if I can only purchase a limited number of tags a year, and I'm hunting for food for the family. I'm gonna wanna shoot the biggest deer, be it doe, buck etc. I can find.
Bigger deer equals more meat..I just can't see a guy shooting a 75# button buck or doe and saying " I need the meat" ,..then shoot bigger deer... More bang for your buck!.. No pun intended......LOL

Ridgerunner,Maybe this person only has a limited amount of time to hunt, so once again ur beliefs are just that, "UR BELIEFS" . U don't have to understand why a fella kills what he kills,Its up to the person themselves.

For me muzz season is time to thin the doe population. Seems like Toyota (work) doesn't want me to spend to much time on the stand these past few weeks

I had a farmer call me to see if I wanted to hunt his place for him next year. He said I can have all 300 acres to myself. It seems the 3 guys that have had permission for the last several years aren't thinning them out. He says they only want to shoot the big bucks. I hate to displace 3 guys, so I said maybe I could just hunt there with them, he said it's up to me. I guess my point is, it depends on where I'm hunting I may be a brown and down kinda guy. When I horn hunt I'm on state ground, when I hunt a UDZ or one of my now 4 private farms I still look for the big boys but I don't forget why I'm there. I let alot of little bucks walk and didn't shoot any doe during shot gun season, because that's when I impose size limits on myself and I only hunt state ground during shot gun. Before and after it's private property and I do my part to keep the numbers down. So I guess you could call me a brown and downer, or the guy that doesn't have a problem fiding private property to hunt.

Yeah you're right HP..thats my opinion. Am I entitled to one? The thread says " Do You Have a different OPINION"...That's my opinion. It is up to each guy..You're right.
It just makes me curious when they guys say "I'm a meat hunter" and yet they shoot 75# deer and only get 30 pounds of meat for that 24.00 tag they purchased...I'm not puttin anyone down, but it just doesn't seem logical to me. No offense..
