I just talked to a friend of mine that had been up to Woodmaster and mine's hunting place.
ANOTHER one of our stands has been stolen. That is two this year- so far.
For the life of me I can not understand a deer hunter stealing from another deer hunter. Low life trash...
Woodmaster,
If you're checking in here maybe it would be good to go get the stands down from the Draw and the Interstate.

That's pretty sad.
We haven't had any stands stolen yet.. but I'm sure it's just a matter of time. We did have a game camera stolen a few years ago though.

Who says it's deer hunter's? Any creep can see it's probably worth money to someone. That sucks Woody.

Might be an anti-hunter. Either way it is low.
I feel very fortunate to be able to hunt on private land, but that even doesn't prevent it from happening.

Woody do you have these stands locked in the tree? On all mine even on my own place I use a bicycle type cable and a very good pad lock on them...but who knows what these little )&*(&^%)&&* can or can't get .............I'd love to catch somebody up in the tree taking one out..Oh YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The stand was locked on with the bigest, baddest chain that I could buy. "Schedule 80 steel"? It also had the biggest , baddest lock that I could buy on it. It was locked under the seat where it would be difficult to get a pair of cutters to.
I'm sure it took them awhile to get it off.
Yes, I would like to catch them.
Last year we set up two trail cameras to catch the thieves and nothing was stolen. We didn't set up the cameras this year and two stands (so far) have went bye-bye. Yes, this is private ground, which doesn't matter to thieves does it?

A deer hunter per definition would not steal a tree stand, it may have been a thief who hunts deer, but anyone who has endured the pains of buying a good stand, scouting and hanging one wouldn't do that to a brother hunter..Sorry for the loss Woody, I hope you find out who did it. I always engrave my initials and the last four of my ss# on the stand somewhere so if they are found you can identify them to the authorities sight unseen to prove they're yours..
I've never had one stolen, but my buddy had two taken a few years ago on some land he was hunting. We found tennis shoe prints in the creekbed and then they got on a four wheeler, we figured they were teenage kids.

Had 2 stolen this year. I know when I hang them each year that there is a chance some scumbag may take them. I wonder if we ever catch some of these low-life's they could be prosecuted for both theft & "hunter harassment"? "Ain't nothin sacred anymore"!!!!!!!!!

Back in 1985, I had a ladder stand stolen in a woods across the street from where I lived! I had it up when I was bow hunting then went to Colorado for a Deer Hunt, came back to retrive my stand, which I had chained & locked to the tree and it was gone!!!

Nothing worse than going out to a stand only to find it gone. Ruins a person's day real quick. Only had it happen once, but the feeling sticks with ya.

If it makes you feel better...I'm just finishing up an investigation and just got confessions from two guys who stole stands from two seperate land owners. The thieves also were involved in harassing the owners father on opening weekend of firearms season. They pulled a truck up to the property line and yelled to him like they were in casual conversation. The father is in his 60's and has cancer and may be experiencing his last deer season. This may be the reason I decided to work this case so hard and spend so much time on it, but it has worked out and is going to lead to several arrests.
I've also had stands stolen. I had 6 API magnums and all the steps stolen from a farm that only I hunted one year. 6 stands and 65 plus steps hurt and I would have loved to have caught those guys.

Stealing stands from an ICO... now THAT's a case I'd love see get to court!!!! ;D I seriously think a lot of these thefts are drug related... we've had copper thieves hit our farm three times this past fall, stripping wiring and started pulling aluminum siding off one building... hear about metal thefts around Indy and Kokomo all the time... anything these jokers can salvage for quick cash and get their fix... Good luck with your pending cases, Greendeem!!!!
