My Son took his first deer November 25,2006
Me my wife and our two kids,Hunter and Lydia always go camping and hunting the weekend after Thanksgiving. The deer are in the rut during this time.
Well this year the ladies had other plans, So it was Me and Hunter.
We got camp set up friday morning and got in the woods that evening. We were in a ground blind,I was explaning to him about the rut and the deer sign we saw going to the blind, and he was asking tons of questions, While eating deer jerky. We saw a small eight pointer that evening, but he was moving through looking for doe's,and did not offer a shot.
Sat. morning we got up and ate breakfast and was off to the blind. We had not been the blind about 10 minutes when I looked to our left and saw a deer comming off the ridge.
Hunter got his gun up, and I stopped the deer in a opening.I told him to try to get the deer in the scope, and he said "I on him can I shoot."I said yes and he shot,The deer jumped and kicked hard with his back legs.I knew he was hit hard.
So we started yelling and hugging and slapping high fives.
We waited about 20 min. and started tracking,He done a great job and went right to the deer. This is a trip I'll never forget ,and the look on his face ;D I'll never forget.
I've killed alot of Deer and some good Bucks, but nothing brings me more joy than to see my kids take there first deer.
Hunter is 9 years old and he killed the spike with a Rem.Model 7 243 cal. at about 65 yards.
