I have a Honda 4wd, that I use to push my sprint car at the race's and hunt on. There great to haul stands, latters and decoys when hunting ducks and geese. Just respect the land owners and be up front and ASK, before you use.

My father has had two Yamahas both of which were great for retrteiving deer and neither of which ever had any problems.

I cannot manhandle deer up & down hills & hollers like I used to, so my Polaris 400 Sportsman 4WD w/ front & rear independent suspension really comes in handy. The winch has been a life saver on more than one occasion retrieving deer out of the bottom of a deep ravine. It is so much easier to haul tree stands to the woods, and use the ATV and a block & tackle to hold the stands securely in place while I safely strap them to the trees. I also use my ATV as a skidder & hauler for firewood. Also, with the Galcier snow blade attachment, hooking & unhooking takes less than a minute with a minute loss of skid plate ground clearance.

I've had a Polaris for 5 years for dragging deer and plowing snow, but if I ever get another one I think it will be a Honda or Arctic Cat.

I ended up buying a Yamaha Kodiak 450 and it seems to do everything I ask of it very well. I was set on buying a Suzuki KingQuad 700, but I was leery of the reverse failures they have been having.

I hate them!
I think they are nothing more than "jet skis" on land.
Everywhere you look now days you see the signs that someone has been there on a ATV.
Why is it ATV riders think "No Trespassing" don't apply to them?

Cambygsp, at my age I cannot get around in the woods like I used to, so my ATV allows me to continue to hunt the rugged areas that I prefer to hunt. Not all of us blast full-bore thru the woods & tresspass like some of the disrespectful people you mentioned.

Why is it ATV riders think "No Trespassing" don't apply to them? Thanks for labeling me. Man I just love being lumped into a group when I have never violated a single law on my heathenistic ATV. Must be we are all poachers too, . That is how the anti's would label us hunters, just because a few break the law. Lumping all people into groups like that makes you no different than the anti's or PETA types. I've got a Honda Rancher and I have NEVER put a tire onto a piece of property that I did not have permission to ride on. My ATV is used for putting around with my family and for hauling stands out or loading out a deer (sure beats the damage done driving a truck across a field). Thanks for the undeserved label.

Why is it ATV riders think "No Trespassing" don't apply to them? That is a very WIDE brush you are painting ALL ATV riders with. Being a tresspasser has nothing to do with what the person is riding or walking for that matter.. In fact is one is going to sneak onto posted ground I woudl think that a noisy ATV would be the last thing they would want to use. Walking and slipping in by stealth woul be more in line with tresspassing...

I have to go along with the rest of these guys. Thanks for labeling me .The only properties I've used mine on are ones I've gotten prior permission to use it on.I always ask first because I know how some people feel about ATVs.

My thoughts mirror squirrelhunters. Also, I use mine to work with more than for recreation.

Why is it ATV riders think "No Trespassing" don't apply to them? That reply bothers me and I don't even own an ATV. I know several people who own ATVs and some of them are hunters. None of them act in the way you described. They are respectful of other people and their property. This is part of what makes them good ATV owners and good people in general. Sure, there are people out there that do what you described but that doesn't mean every person that owns an ATV does. That is the same as saying every hunter is a poacher, or every person with a drivers license is a drunk driver. I don't hate all ATVs, but I do hate it when people misuse them as you described. I don't hate all hunters or fishermen, but I do hate it when people do not obey game laws or poach. I don't hate every driver, but I do hate it when people drive while intoxicated. I don't hate every person who posts on a internet forum, but I do hate it when people lump everyone into a category because of the actions of some others. You get the picture. Lumping every person into the same category is ridiculous. Should people consider you a poacher since you hunt and there are others out there that poach?

Although I completely disgree with Camby, growing up near and hunting in the HNF I can easily see how someone might mistakenly form that opinion.

I own a 1990-something 4 X 4 Honda 4 trax 300. Top speed 35-40 mph down a steep hill in neutral. Pulls deer and steep hills like a champ! I wore mine out when I first got it, but now it sits and wait for me to kill a deer so that I can be lazy and drag it out. I just started it up today for the first time in 6-7 months.
