My wife's uncle made a comment about the cost of Michigan license going up 300%. He said deer hunting was a poor mans sport years ago and has now changed to a rich mans sport.
If the increase is true that is a big hike.

I think he may be exagerating slightly . I recently spoke with a guy from Michigan who complained that their license costs were doubling(not tripling) , and it turned out that even then their's would be slightly comparable to ours .

Last summer, my local gas station raised the price on bee moths too. Fishing for blue gill must be turning into a rich man's sport too. Give me a break. Hunting is not a rich man's sport. Hunting is what it is and it will always cost some amount of money to participate in it. Everything is getting more expensive ... what is the DNR of any state supposed to do? Lower prices? Keep prices the same forever? They have to cover their costs and be able to put some money back for future programs. I just love all the whining about license fees. How would these same people like it when the coffers run dry and the state can't afford to put money into wildlife programs?

Not in Indiana, is the state DNR or conservation in the black or red. In Missouri we have 1/8 of each dollar that is spent on sporting goods go to MO Dept of Conservation and they are the only state organization in MO Gov that has a big budget in the Black. And the gov. is always trying to figure a way to get at the money. So far no good, just like ol Billy Clinton stealing money from the Pittman Robertson act, before the GOP put a stop to that.

To encourage people to shoot more does!! Shoot more does....shoot more does!!!.... True, but sometimes you need to lower the price to sell more and make more of a profit.
