ENGLISH, Ind. -- A hunter told police he killed a bobcat, which is protected under Indiana law, and now faces a misdemeanor charge, state conservation officers said. Larry D. Hall, 53, of Floyds Knobs, turned himself in and told officers he regretted killing the cat Saturday while deer hunting on private property near English, about 40 miles west of Louisville, Ky., said Indiana Conservation spokesman Mark Farmer. The male 35-pound bobcat, was wearing a radio tracking collar. It was captured and fitted with the collar in August 2005 on the grounds of the Crane Naval Weapons Depot. It had been tracked by Indiana Department of Natural Resources biologists until April, when the batteries in the collar died. Conservation officers seized Hall's firearm and gave him a citation to appear in Crawford County Court to face a misdemeanor charge of illegal taking of a bobcat. A man who answered a phone number listed for Larry Hall in Floyds Knobs said there was no one there by that name.

Another idoit doing this? I no an idoit that did this last year and it only cost him like $50 in court fees. The CO did nothing since he turned himself in, in regards to taking his firearm, etc. That is funny that this guy actually is getting in trouble for being dumb. I wish they'd take the other dumby hunting rights away.

I had a guy at my work tell me he shot one this past weekend, and plans on getting it mounted!
Either he's full of crap, or he's gonna have a big surprise when he picks up his cat!

He should have to pay for a dozen to be captured in another state, and reintroduced to make up for the 1 he killed.

I could have shot a cougar Sunday (Illinois does not recognize cougars so it's legal) but it was not on property I had permission to hunt. I tried to get a picture but it took off.

I don't know why people shoot cats of any kind. I get it if they are causing trouble of some sort, but what does one do with his dead cat? mount it? make a rug out of it? Make the old lady a coat out of it. I'm just not down with the whole thing. I love to hunt, but I want to eat what I kill.

Northern Pike, south of Chambersburg. They've been causing some problems here. One took out my wife's Aunt's ostriges a couple years back.

Saw a bobcat in warren county while hunting several years ago. I agree with JHL 10 to many barn cats they actually are allowed to shoot them in wisconsin I believe. I did the bowhunter survey and they had cats listed on the sheet.

What do you bet he wouldn't have turned himself in if it didn't have a radio collar.
