This has to be the worse opening weekend of gun season Ive ever experienced! Ive seen one small spike and two fawns in the last three days. Those of you that want the gun season out of rut got their wish this year and looks like it will be the same next year too. Im going to give it another few days and then bang the first doe I see. This has been some sad hunting on property thats produced nice bucks for over 30 years. h.h. Before you start saying thta about the bowhunters know this. I started seeing FEWER and FEWER deer WELL before the opening of gun season... I am convinced two things happend in the area I hunt this year.... 1. There was a HUGE nighttime rut going on. 2. The still to this day standing corn gave all of these deer a safe place to hide....

I am going out later this afternoon, so hopefully I see some deer. I went last Friday and saw three does, that's it. I have not been out with a gun yet, so today will be my first for the year. Was wondering if I should bother with the doe estrous and just set up like the rut already passed, what do you guys/gals think?

Well might be a cliche but: Day of bad hunting is better than no hunting. I know, family matters will keep me out this gun season. Oh well there is always M/L in Dec. Good Luck everyone and enjoy the hunt.
