Well the morning started out with a 3/4 mile walk thhrough a plowed field, which wore this out of shape guy out. I sat on the ground in a chair at the corner of a fence row and some abandoned railroad tracks. The fog was very thick visibility was about 100yds which was very annoying. Around 8am 6 does passed just out of range and headed south which to me was a good sign. Hopefully their was a buck behind them. About a half hour later the fog had grown thicker and he appeared in front of me out of no where. he was walking at an angle at about 80yds i grunted to stop him and barley found him through my scope i shot and he jump up and ran right toward me apparantely uninjured. I reloaded very quickly (i have a single shot) and he looked around to see what the heck was going on and i shot him again and he did the old back flip and dropped in his tracks. Probably one of my most memorable hunts just because of the fog and the way he looked like a ghost standing there in the fog. He dressed at 172 not as big as i originally thougt but plenty big enough.

Great story, 911.
They always seem to run away from me when I shoot at them and miss.
172 field dresseed is nothing to sneeze at.
That's a good sized buck..

Excellent job John!!!! He's got those antlers that come off the skull and take an immediate turn outward for spread. Very cool buddy!

Great story man, and great buck-and "only" 172 lbs? No "only" there, that`s an awesome buck. And isn`t it neat how some part of the hunt that makes it a really special deer for you turns it into a real trophy? Too cool.
