Vodka does the same thing. Soak a make up remover pad (liberated from wife for MANLY purposes only) and wipe affected skin. I do a good twice over on the arms and hands.
Be sure to get more on your skin than in your mouth

I've have never had a case of poison ivy,oak or sumac. I can pull it up barehanded. Now my Brother can just look at it and he gets it!

I am the same way Dr's.... I got poison Ivy once as a kid and the rash lasted for about 2 days and I have not had it since.... to prove a point to my friends that I would not get it... I rubbed my face in a patch of it (on trh leaves) as they watched .... the next day both of them had it on thier hands and I did not even have so much as a bump.

Been using a product called "Oral Ivy", it's has the urishol in it. Put 3-5 drops in a glass of water each day and it's supposed to build up your immunity. I usually use it mostly in the early season.
Not sure if I'm becoming more tolerant of it or if I'm just looking out for it more, but I haven't had a *bad* outbreak in several years. Not sure if I've had any more than just an annoyance of it this year...

I've got a good dose of it right now on my lower legs. Mental note to self .... don't weed eat in shorts anymore.
Best thing I've found to do is don't mess with it, get in the chlorine swimming pool pretty often, and double up on my allergy medicines. It generally goes away within a week.

You all need to just "et sum o that stuff" and if you live you"ll never have it again There's a lot of truth to that one, that's the exact remedy that has been used by the native tribes in this country for centuries. They start out consuming tiny bits of the new leaves in Spring, and by Summer they've built up sufficient resistance that they didn't get a bad case of it. Me, I just keep hydrocortisone cream handy, it dries it up overnight.
