Woody-since they also offer exotics am I wrong in assuming that this is a "fenced" operation? They don't really say anything about it on their site that I could find.

It is fenced, but I'm thinking hogguide said on TNDeer that is was a LOT of acreage.
I also believe in Tennessee they are required to be fenced to keep as many hogs as possible from roaming the country side.
Email him and ask for particulars such as the amount of acreage, etc.
Good luck..

Before you go to Tn. You need to ask the configuration of the fence. There's some that have hour glass shaped fenced areas and they drive the hogs past the pinch point. No kill, no pay is not what it says either.

Back in the 70s and 80s, I made several trips to TN. to hunt boar, and a couple of exotics. Virtually all of the operations are high fence hunting preserves, unless you hunt the smokies in season with an outfitter with dogs. The 2 I hunted at were:
1. Clarkrange hunting lodge. Extremely rugged terrain, great hog hunt with dogs.
2. Caryonah hunting lodge. Big place, easier terrain than Clarkrange.
A couple of places I have heard good things about, but never hunted are:
1. Wilderness hunting lodge 2. Brimstone outfitters 3. TN extreme boar hunting[the place listed above-I think]
A place to definately stay away from: 1. Cumberland Mtn. Hunting Lodge
The hog hunts are always fun, and usually challenging. My opinion on the exotic hunts? If you want to hunt exotics, go to Texas. JMO.

I hunted with a guy that hunted at Wilderness and he said that he wouldn't go back. He thought the place wasn't that clean (sleeping areas and lodge). I hunted with him at Loshbough, www.tennboar.com/home.htmlI've been down there the past 2 years at Loshbough. They have 600+ acres fenced for hogs, (the DNR of TN requires them to be fenced.) A year ago in December a hunter that was still hunting shot a HUGE hog. I saw the head at the Taxidermist when I was there. It was never weighed, but it was estimated at 900#. The taxidermist has a hoist that is above the rafters in his skinning room, and the ceiling is 8' above the floor. They had the chain around the hog's neck with the head up against the ceiling and the rear feet were still solidly on the floor. They are pretty open to allow you to hunt what ever way you choose, I usually sit for an evening overlooking a field, (that worked great the first year), then still hunt the rest of the hunt. A buddy and I shot 2 still hunting last year. His was over 400# (Feral hog) and mine was around 300# (Russian). They are a couple hundred cheaper than Caryonah. If anybody is interested, I have the weekend of March 24th and 25th reserved for a hog hunt. (Blue-Dot's 2007 Boar Blast) I know that it's not filled yet. I'm limiting it to 15 hunters (they can handle 20 without any problem) and if 12 guys sign up, Loshbough will have a catered Prime Rib and Chicken dinner on Saturday night for us. Loshbough doesn't offer the same thing that Caryonah does, i.e. the guy that puts the hunt together and gets 12 or more people to hunt gets his hunt for free. I have to pay my way just like everybody else. I couldn't see having everybody paying a couple hundred more per hunter for a few meals (but then I'd get hunt for free). Like I mentioned, if anybody is interested, call Susie and have her bang your credit card for $100.00 which holds your place. 1-931-788-5408 The hunt this year is $600.00 for a hog. We can arrive anytime Friday afternoon, and leave on Monday. We usually hunt Friday evening, Saturday and anybody that didn't get one on Saturday has all day Sunday too. The last 2 years, we were all done by 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, and we didn't hunt Saturday evening because the catered dinner was early. I planned the dinner for later on in the evening on Saturday this year so we could hunt Sat. evening. The reason that they can guarantee that you'll get a hog is that if you want, they will run them with dogs. The dogs WILL find the hogs! I took a Corsican also last year. The hoofed animals are in a totally different fenced area seperate fron the hogs. I believe that area is 1,400 acres. It's not flat by any means, it's in the "hills" of TN. There are areas that you can't see more than 15 Yds, and some open areas that you can see for 400 Yds. My buddy and I were the only ones that wanted something other than a hog, and since I was down there before, the guide Daniel asked us if we wanted a guide or if we wanted to hunt on our own. We thought we could do it by ourselves, and we did. It took us all morning of hunting, but my buddy took a Texas Dall and I took that Corsican. I'll post some pics later tonite. esshup

h.h., hopefully the weather will be better for you in Fl. than it is here now. 7* here and we're on the fringe of getting whacked by the lake effect snow.
Dave took his spotted hog with his .44 Mag and it did a fine job. As usual, I used the Savage ML with a 350 gr. Barnes "X" bullet. At 20 feet, the hog didn't know what hit it. ;D I'd be interested in hearing on how your hunt turns out.

Blue dot,
I'm planning on shooting a movie of my kills and take lots of pictures. I will be posting them sometime in Feb. Where I'm hunting its all archery, no guns so the Savage stays home. h.h.
