Should be an easy round to find if you run into any problems

The .35 Whelen, was developed by James Howe, and named after the late Col. Townsend Whelen. It is based on the .30-06 cartridge necked up to .35 caliber (.358") without any other changes. There is also an improved version based on .30-06 Ackley improved '06. Ammo would not be areal problem as one can simply neck up a .30-06 and reload. Currently Remington is the only manufacture of the .35 Whelen cartridge.
(1) Factory load with 200 grain Soft Point is 2,675 FPS with a muzzle Energy of 3,177 F.P.
(2) Also loaded is a 250 grainer @ 2,400 FPS ME= 3,197

I would reload this cartridge for sure. I was aware of the two available commercial loads. Does anyone have experience with it?

Hey jajwrigh just thought I'd give you my 2 cents. Consider what you'll be hunting for and ask your outfitter what is best suited for the game. I will let you know that a lot of places up here you would have to go mighty far to get .35 Whelen if your handloads where misplaced. If you are comeing up for Moose I would almost guarentee the answer will be 7mm Mag and up. 30.06 and 300 mags are the most used guns by residents. 308 and 270 would be close behind. If it was my money I would go for a gun chambered in 300 mag as you could get them almost anywhere up here but I would relly considere the new Federal 325. Just my 2 cents.

How about a .338 mag?

.35 Whelen is a pretty cool round. Kind of nostalgic. My personal preference would be for something a little hotter and flatter shooting.
Not knowing what you will be hunting for, it is tough to make a suggestion.

I see factory loads from Remington in the Meijer at Jeffersonville usually.
