EBay - Kentucky Elk Hunt Bull or Cow
Here is a super chance to get a Bull Elk from Kentucky
Only 200 permits are issued in the state each year plus just a few of these landowner permits. You can have one if you are the high bidder.
Kentucky Hunters for the Hungry will be offering an donated landowner elk tag for auction on E-Bay to the highest bidder. KDFWR awards 1 of these tags per each 5000 acres that a landowner enrolls in a WMA agreement. This tag was kindly donated to us by Elaine Christ whose family donated the land for the Howard WMA in Breathitt County. These tags are either-sex and are good for the entire at-large season. They can only be used on the property identified in the WMA agreement – that being the brand new Howard WMA a link to a map of the area is www.kdfwr.state.ky.us/kfwis/viewable/Howard_WMA.pdf . The elk tag is fully transferable and may be sold or given away at the winning bidder’s discretion to anyone eligible to hunt in KY (resident or non-resident). The biologist in the area, says there are elk there; he went up there 3 weeks ago and did observe fresh elk sign (he didn’t see any elk as it was midday). Because the thousand acre Howard WMA is open to the public, there likely will be other at-large elk hunters on the WMA during the season, however, being open also means that whoever purchases this tag will be able to scout and hunt on their own schedule. There were only 174 open area tags issued for all of East Kentucky so their should be little competition from other hunters. If they don’t get a bull during the bull firearms season, they can still pursue a bull with a bow, or crossbow or opt to harvest a cow during the later cow firearms season. The seasons are: Antlered Elk Oct. 7-13, 2006; Antlerless Elk Dec. 9-22, 2006 and Archery or Crossbow Oct. 7-Jan. 15, 2006
The permit is valid for KY resident or non-resident and is in addition to the regular purchased hunting license ($15.00 or $115.00). The tag has a base value of $375.00 and any amount spent on the auction above that is tax deductible. Similar auctions have brought more than 10 times this amount.
The auction will begin at 6 p.m. on September 14 and run for 10 days on E-Bay. You can find the auction by going to www.ebay.com and doing a search for Elk Tag for the Hungry.
Here is your chance for a trophy elk. All proceeds from the sale of this tag will go to processing fees to process hunter donated deer and help feed thousands of needy throughout the Commonwealth. Last year we donated over 50,000 pounds to 37 different charities. Each $100 spent on this tag will feed 725 meals to Kentucky's neediest citizens. Bid generously and enjoy this unique opportunity to help others while hunting your way into history.
Kentucky Hunters for the Hungry is a registered 501 C-(3) charity. Learn more about us by going to www.huntersforhungry.org.
