Hey Guys,
I went hog hunting last evening at South HackleTrap here in South Florida. Weather was 84 degree with a slight NW wind. About 1 hr before dark the feeder fired and 5 sows came into the feeder. One had 6 piglets.
As they started to eat the corn one of them gave the alarm grunt and they scattered in all directions. I thought that would be the end of this evenings hunt.
About 15 minutes or so later i heard a noise to my left and a medium size boar came walking into the feeder from my left. He stopped a couple times and i waited until he was 15 yds, quartering away and let the arrow fly. The arrow buried up to the fletching right behind his right should and he took off straight away. I could hear him run threw the palmettos for 70-80 yards and then nothing.
I gathered up my equipment and got down out of the stand and started tracking him. The blood trail was easy to follow. He fell just about the last place i had heard him run. The 4blade Muzzy had went threw both lungs. I drug him to the road and loaded him up on the 4 wheeler for the 4 mile ride back to camp.
He weighed 122 lbs. We skinned and quartered him last night and today I'm going to bone him out. We will be hunting again Friday, Saturday and Sunday and then i come home on Tuesday. I will be taking some pictures and hope to post them will my next hog story. h.h.

84 degrees and you're hunting hogs and we are up here in the 20s and not hunting anything? Rub it in!! Thanks for the report and looking forward to the pictures and the whole story. Do you think that "alarm grunt" was the sow telling her piglets to run that a boar was coming in? I've seen that with black bears over bait.. .

WW, I think the wind was swirling a little and maybe one of them got a whiff of me or i used chum corn which you throw under the feeder to keep any early arrivals there until the feeder fires which is 6:15PM. I used my bare hand to throw it and we had been working on my friends powder generator earlier and i got gas all over my hands. I washed them a couple of times but i could smell it so maybe i scented the chum corn. Next time I'll just open the plastic baggie and dump it out. Ive seen boars and sows with piglets together before and the boars don't seem to bother the piglet's. Thanks jstalljon. It will probably be Monday before i get back from camp and post some pictures. h.h.
