Here is the scenario. You get unlimited funds to design a 7 day, hunt of a lifetime. Where would it be? What would you hunt? What weapon would you use?
I'll go first. The setting would be Alaska. I would be pursuing Caribou and stalking them with my .454 Casull. My son would be my sole partner and we would experience it together. In my mind the combination of all the above is "perfect." What about you guys?

7 Days aint enough time for a "once in a life time hunt". I've often had thoughts of just taking the whole season and going on a 30 day horsepacking trip, multi species hunt. Possibly Yukon, British Columbia, etc. A guy could travel at his liesure, picking up multiple trophies, possibly; sheep, goat, black bear & grizz, wolf, moose, and maybe elk and deer. Have tags for everthing.
Throw in a fishing pole too, stay in a wall tent w/ woodstove, and camp, fish and hunt to your hearts content.

A boat based spot and stalk hunt for Alaskan brown bear. My rifle would be a custom mauser in .338 Win. mag. At night we'd feast on fresh sea food and watch the northern lights. A more realistic dream hunt would be a 60 day wild turkey odesey starting in Florida in March and ending somewhere up north in May.

Steiny is right, since the scenario is unlimited funds and a once in a lifetime hunt, 7 days wouldn't be nearly enough. With unlimited funds to work with my once in a lifetime hunt would be a two part, two country hunt. My first stop would be Tanzania for cape buffalo, kudu, leopard, sable, hippo, and warthog. The second stop would be in Cameroon for Bongo, Lord Derby eland, and giant forest hog. That should amount to over 2 months of hunting and qualify as a once in a lifetime hunt.
If I were restricted to just one country for this fantasy hunt, I would either first hire a personal trainer for two years to get me into shape for a Mongolian argali hunt, or stick with the jungles of Cameroon.

That multi state deer hunting thing would be awesome and not terribly expensive. Biggest problem would be getting the time off.
I could see; Wyoming, Montana, North & South Dakota being done pretty reasonably.
When do we leave?

I've had a dream for several years to take off of work and hunt my way from the very first opening day of deer season in the USA to the very last Day. Whatever states that takes me too so be it. Rut hunting in the hot spots. Don't care what caliber of animal I tag except for the rut. I'm guessing 5 -6 months of solid hunting would do it. August thru Jan or Feb.

I believe my dream hunt would be an unguided bowhunt for elk, probably in New Mexico.
