Has gotta be the WORST county in the state for trying to find hunting land... The land development around this place is surreal, and the deer are getting pushed further and further back into the trenches.. I am just thankful that there is some public land within reasonable driving distance, but I am looking into leasing next year for sure..

I agree, having moved to Carmel in June 2005 I spent months looking for a place close to home to hunt. The best I could do is 70 miles one way. most of the hunting land I looked at last year in Hamilton county is now housing sub divisions,Apartments or under development.

This is happening every where. Down the road from my hunting property about two miles away is a new 200 home addition going up. It wont be long and i'll be surrounded by houses. h.h.

Hamilton County checking in....and I echo the thoughts above. I see deer all the time around Fishers except for one small problem...they are usually on private property. We've had a small herd (about 7 doe's) around my neighborhood for the last 7 years...this summer they began developing the empty woods/fields....I haven't seen the doe's since.

Rockster - might try some of the farms in White River Township (NE quadrant of Hamco) along 266th and 281st St east of 213... still a lot of open farm ground there with decent size pocket woods... but you're right, everything south of 206th is getting built up pretty quick...

I know how you guys feel. I've lived in carmel for most of my life. And after almost 18 years here everything has changed. Cornfields are now neighborhoods etc... Only good woods is owned by an apartment complex too.

blast from the past. Have not seen many of these nsmes in a long while.
I used to hunt Hamilton Co for deer, rabits and geese. Knocked on a lot of doors. That was 10 to 20 yrs ago. Ask for a day and yourself, prove your trust worthy. I would spend zero time in Carmel looking to hunt.

I have lived in Hamilton county for 23 years. I am fortunate to live on 15 acres north of Cicero. I have habitat, water and food. We (grandson and I) have taken deer from the place for 4 years. Just started hunting six years ago. I am seeing more deer here than I have in years. All does and fawns. I have worked to make this a deer destination and home. Three food plots and one yet to plant. Putting in some Fall turnips. This place has become a deer smorgasbord. If I were to look for another place to hunt I would knock on doors, west of 31 and north of 38

When I bought hunting ground near Daleville people asked me who would ever want to buy it if I decide to sell. My answer is "some rich fella from Fishers that really likes to hunt"

The say there are a lot of cougars in Carmel. I know a restaurant in Ohio that has a lot of them. I didn't know they were legal to hunt in IN or OH. Must be a special draw hunt......

Being in Carmel I can attest to the fact that hunting near here is not the best as is it is far and in between. However I’d you can find land to hunt power to you

I was fortunate to find about a 1.25 acre patch just north of Ruoff (whatever it is now) to bowhunt on the last couple years before I left for college. Just gotta get out there and ask.

Fellow Hamilton county hunter here, agree that everything is being developed and have to travel awhile to find hunting areas. Lots of public down south, although a good 1-1.5 hrs each way from southern Hamilton. Makes for a long day but a day out in the woods is still a good one

I live in Carmel as well, funny to see this old thread get bumped. Used to hunt urban area just on the boone/Hamilton county line but the neighbor yelled at the lady giving me permission so she decided it was best to no longer let me.
